how long before you started using OPKs?
i only just stopped taking BCP, so i'm sure it'll take a while for my system to get back to "normal" (i was very irregular before starting BCP). should i wait a couple of cycles before using the OPKs? i looked at them in duane reade today, and they're not cheap. or should i start using them right away since i'll really have no idea when to expect my next cycle to start?

We waited one month before using OPKs.
It may take a while for your cycle to regulate after coming off BCP, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're not ovulating.
For now, if you DO want to use OPKs your first month, you might want to get cheaper ones.. and a BUNCH of them!

i agree!! if you do want to use the OPK's then buy the cheaper ones for now.

i was curious to see what my body would do and started using them after 2 months off of BCP. I was ovulating....so that was nice.
hasn't made a difference though, but nice to know i guess.

pretty soon after coming off BCP. I knew we were going to have problems conceiving (although not quite the problems we ended up having). So, I started using them right away.

we are on cycle #3 and this is my first month using them. i have been off BCP for a while (a year) and my body is very regular now. the only benefit to waiting until your cycles are regular is that you will go through less tests! most are 5 or 7 days, you might want to get 2 sets. i found Target to be cheaper than the drug stores.

I was wondering the same thing...its my first month off BCP. I think I'm going to see what happens for the first two months and then use OPKs.

i think for this month i'm just gonna see what happens, then maybe start next cycle. AF is already a day late (and it's bothering me, i want to start counting!), so i'm afraid my cycles will start being irregular after this first month.
