How long before trying to TTC
should I be taking prenatal vitamins?
I got the prescription from my dr. when I told her we would be TTCing in a few months, and she told me to take them a few months before. Does that mean I should start now if we will be TTCing in april/may?

Re: How long before trying to TTC
my doc said I should start taking prenatals 1 or 2 months before we were actively trying. It doesn't hurt to start taking them early. But then again, my sister's doc in the same practice told her to call when she got a postitive HPT and THEN she would give her a prescription for vitamins.
BTW both of her kids turned out fine!

Re: How long before trying to TTC
Vitamins are always a good thing. I don't think that you can start prenatals too soon. You want to always make sure as a woman that you always have enough vitamins.....
Good luck.

Re: How long before trying to TTC
At least 2 mos, according to my GYN. But even a multi-vitamin (for women) will contain 400 mcg of folic acid, which will cover you through to a BFP since you also get folic acid from food.
