How late do most dr.s let you go?
Just curious with all of these late mommies and my cervix still shut tight...
I am so concerned about merconium aspiration if I give birth too late - is that being paranoid?

My doctor schedules DAILY visits once you go past 40 weeks.
They will not allow patients to go more than 42 weeks.
But it differs.

Not sure what my Dr will do with me, but one day while waiting to be seen I overheard 1 patient (who just walked out from seeing the Dr) tell the receptionist that she was 39w 1d and the Dr said nothing was going on and to schedule an induction for 2 weeks.

Hmmm - I'm not sure if I'd be happy with my dr. doing that - would she still have weekly visits, or go a whole 2 wks without seeing the dr? That sounds a little odd - going from weekly to - see you when we induce 2 wks from now....
I'm going to ask my dr. next week what she'll do

I was 6 days late. They induced and she was out in only a few hours.

If I was not being induced at 39 weeks, my doctor said they only let you go one week past your due date. I think every doctor is different though

The most they are supposed to let you go is 2 weeks after your due date.
Whether your doctor waits the full two weeks or not is different with each one.

I was given the choice to induce 2 days before my due date (a tues) and we did so on that Friday.

No it is not being paranoid at all - it does happen sometimes - but if you are late your doctor should be monitoring you closely - giving nonstress tests. The rule is 14 days TOPS - but most won't let you go longer than say 10 days.

My dr. said if I showed some progress then she induces at 41 weeks, with no progress 42 weeks. I am sure thought that is just her rule of thumb and if something doesnt seem right then she might do it earlier.

They will not let you go further than 42 weeks.
I was five days late and I told my Dr. I didn't want to be induced unless it was necessary. We didn't even discuss induction.

My doc doesn't go longer than 1 week late.
Hang in there though, I made zero progress and was only a fingertip dilated when i went into full labor.

42 weeks for my doctor, especially for your first baby. I was 8 days late and at that point we did not even discuss induction.

With my first my doctor would not let me go past 41 weeks. I actually went into labor the day before I was supposed to be induced. I'm glad I did bc DS had passed his first bowel. When they broke my water at the hospital, they noticed the meconium so they flushed my uterus with saline so he wouldn't breath it in.
This time I was told they will only let me go 2 or 3 days after my due date, since DS was 10+lbs and had issues regulating his blood sugar.

The standard MAX. these days is 2 weeks. Your dr. will make the call on sooner [should you need to worry] based on how you are doing and how the baby seems.

My DH's friend's wife just had a baby recently back in MI ...
this is the worst I have heard -
Due 1/7, Born 1/30! That's over 3 WEEKS!  I think they are kinda alternative though and didn't get induced ... yikes!
