Re: How is Carmine's restaurant??
The food is good, but it's not as clean as I like restaurants to be. I've had a few issues there at the one in the Theatre District and won't return.

For that type of restaurant I prefer Tony DiNapolis...in my opinion the food and atmosphere is much better. There is one in the theatre district and uptown!

I agree 10000000%! I find Carmine's food to be very garlicy (if that's a word). I think Tony's food is so much better!

I agree. The prices compared to portion sizes are good, but I don't think it is that special TBH.

Re: How is Carmine's restaurant??
Dh and I were just there on Sunday.
It's good, but don't forget that it's family style. We got one appetizer and entree and it was a lot of food for the two of us.

Re: How is Carmine's restaurant??
Totally overrated. I was just there a couple weeks ago -- The food is okay, but honestly not much better than chain restaurant quality. I didn't think it was worth the price. Granted, one appetizer and one entree satisfied 4 people when we went. The wine list is okay - not phenomenal, but plenty of choices.
My friend RAVED about the food and how amazing it was. DH and I were not impressed at all.
ETA - Their garlic bread was really good. We had the cold antipasto (nothing wonderful, but huge), penne with marinara sauce, and a side of sweet sausage. The penne was eh - I could NOT at all see how it was "spicy" as we asked. My friend kept saying "Wow, it's got a kick to it!" but it tasted just like regular marinara sauce to me.
Maybe I'm jaded b/c I was in Italy not that long ago, but the food just wasn't impressive... It wasn't bad, just not worth the 1 hour wait.

Re: How is Carmine's restaurant??
I like Carmine's but, prefer Tony's as well as PPs have said.
I prefer going to both though with a decent sized group so you can order a few different things and share since it's family style.
