How in the world do I get my toddler to sit under my tree for a potrait
I cannot get a good shot of Ds he is all over the place I don't think I'm gonna have the energy for this! I have coupon for target portrait studio free 8x 10 portrait no sitting fees. Do think i should just go there? Is it a gimmick?

DW and I would work together for posed shots of DC when they were very young. DW would prop up DC, and I would get the camera focused and ready. I would count down from 3, and DW would pull her hands away and I would snap a picture before DC could fall, crawl away, etc. May take a few tries, but I always got at least one photo that was good enough for me.

Re: How in the world do I get my toddler to sit under my tree for a potrait
I read a great tip on here that I have not used but it sounds like it would work. Put a sticker on the palm of his hand and he will be concentrating on getting it off that he will sit there and while he is sitting there you can call his name and hopefully he will look up and you can get your shot.
Good luck

Big lollipop. Make it a cute spiral one. Once it is being pulled out of the mouth, call their name.

Someone on here suggested wrapping a big box and let him sit in there....it worked for us. There are a few of the shots in my album although not the one we ended up using for some reason.

Sit him on something.
You need a extra person to supervise for this, but put whatever he will be sitting on on top of a table, that way he can't get off/down even if he wanted to.
Last year, I used our rocking horse.
I haven't tried the lollipop thing but that sounds like it would work.
Sit him next to a big box of ornaments and let him explore.

Stop stressing!!
If you are uptight about it, they can tell. Just relax and take some shots without overly trying. You may get a good one without trying for a pose

thats what we did. I was DREADING taking a holiday photo of dd... she will not sit still for anything.... So we put her in a giant gift box and had her play "peek a boo" she would bend down and pop back up with a gigantic smile. We got so many good shots that way!

We did it this weekend. I wrapped fake gifts and had DD sit there by the tree and try to unwrap them. I also gave her her stocking (empty) Made for GREAT pics. I got about 50 shots and made my Christmas cards all in about 1 hour
