How far is too far for pediatrician?
How far would you travel for your DCs ped?

How far is too far for pediatrician?
Depends. When DS was born, we stayed with Stony Brook Peds after he was discharged from NICU. We lived in Ronkonkoma and the office was in Setauket. It took about 25 minutes to get there.
Due to major issues with the office, we switched aftter his 2nd appt. Our new pediatrician was in Lake Grove, about 15 minutes away. We moved to Holbrook and now it takes about 30 minutes to get there. But I would never switch. She is wonderful. We have had an emergency when DS was at school. I work in Lindenhurst school is in Ronkonkoma and I made it to ped in 45 minutes and that included pick up at school.
So, if you like the ped, it could never be too far, in my opinion. If you aren't crazy about them, it would depend.

How far is too far for pediatrician?
I limited my search to 20 minutes from the house. I wanted a doctor that was convent to get to-I would hate to have a sick baby and get stuck in traffic.

How far is too far for pediatrician?
I wanted the pediatrician to be 20 mins away max, but that was really for my convenience more than anything else. If a pediatrician I loved was a little farther away I would probably consider it.

My ped is about 10 minutes away.
I likely wouldn't have chosen someone much further than that just because I like that my peds are affiliated with the hospitals closest to me. Makes things easier IMO.

Same here. Our ped is about 10-15 minutes away depending on lights. I saw one that was 20 minutes away I loved and considered using but it was mostly highway driving. I thought about having a sick kid during a snowy day or any bad weather and figured I'd stick to 15 minutes on side streets.

Our ped is about 20 minutes away without traffic. Since we schedule our appointments early on Saturday mornings its fine.
If they are after 10, then it takes closer to 30-35 minutes. I love our Ped so I don't mind it.
If its an emergency I go to PM Pediatrics which is less than 10 minutes from us.

How far is too far for pediatrician?
We travel from Lindenhurst to Smithtown for our ped. However, they also have an office in Lindenhurst five minutes from our house in case of an emergency. We like the smithtown location and the staff much better in smithtown though so we go there for most of our sick and well visits.

i live in Lindenhurst and go to Levittown. its only max 20 minutes cause i can get there by highway its also right now not far from my job or where the kids go to Daycare so i like that if i want take them during lunch i can do so also. again its probably about 15-20 minutes from my job at that's because i have to take local roads with lights.

I'd drive far for my pediatrician. I'm about 15-20 mins from ours with traffic. I'd probably drive up to 45 mins for our doctor though.

I'd say 15 minutes would be the max. The closer the better, though. I want to be able to get there fast in an emergency. Obviously a real emergency we'd go to the ER, but I've rushed DS to the ped before and wouldn't want to be in the car too long.

Mine is 20 mins but so is the hospital that we'd have to go to for a peds unit. I asked around and didn't have any great recs for peds in my area anyway. It's fine for us.
