How do you stop your toddler from....
1. climbing on everything...chairs, tables etc 2. Clearing their highchair tray or throwing their plate when they are done 3. whining
Ill take any and all suggestions...it has been a long day
Seriously though...my twins are 19 months and they DO NOT listen they look at me smile and do it anyway. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the age.
I probably spent an hour straight taking them off the table, telling them no and trying to redirect them!

Time outs work well starting around 18 months old. They probably won't stay, so you may want to put them in a pack and play for the duration (1.5 minutes, you can do 30 seconds - 1 minute to start).
As for the food, my kids get one warning and then I take the food away.
Whining gets ignored, I tell them I can't understand what they are saying when they wine.

My sons big thing right now is throwing. It drives me bonkers. He throws EVERYTHING. Today he freaking threw his shoe out the car window.
I'm thinking we may need to spend the entire day in time out because thats how often he does it.

You know AJ is nearly 4 and two weeks ago she decided it would be fun to throw her toy at me while I was driving.
AJ! then as safely as possible i pulled over into a parking lot, stopped the car looked back and said " you do NOT throw things at Mommy when she drives. I could get into an Accident and that would be VERY VERY bad, do you understand me?" of course she said yes so I asked "why" her answer was "because it would hurt" yes it will. Don't do that again. Do you want the toy back? "yes" do you know what will happen if you throw the toy again? what is the rule "It get goes to trash" yes it does.
She threw a toy when she was much much younger. It some some cheap happy meal toy. she threw it once, I said stop, she threw it twice I said "throw it again and its trash" She threw it again, I threw it away. She cried and I said too bad "You had two warnings, do not throw things in the car" A week or so later, she tried again. I stopped the car and said "Do you remember what happened the last time? I put your toy in the trash and it was gone forever, do you want me to put this in the trash and you can never play with it again?" of course she said no.
Daddy was in the backseat both times. So she cried or looked to him for pity. He (thankfully) sided with me.
Its not just my safety and hers when I drive, its those around me. you do NOT throw things in my car. period.

Re: How do you stop your toddler from....
Thanks for the suggestions girls
I like the pack n play idea. I think I will set that up in my living room while I am home for the next couple of weeks and give it a try. I was trying time outs but they didn't stay there so I was standing there with them and I felt like it was just reinforcing their behavior because they were getting my attention.
I do take the food away from them as soon as they are done but I miss it sometimes. I have made them get out and pick it up with me but I don't think they fully "get it" yet they are always smiling and laughing as they do it.
Thanks again!
