how do you STOP swaddling?
My DS will only sleep through the night if he's tightly wrapped in the miracle blanket. During the day I don't use it, and basically he just won't nap. I realize I can't swaddle him forever and I'm petrified of what happens when I stop using the blanket - will he just stop sleeping through the night? For those of you that swaddled, what was your experiences when you stopped?

At about 4 months we just went cold turkey because he had been busting out anyway.

We started to loosen it a little every night And eventually just stopped. Jenna eased into pretty well from what I can remember.

I swaddled my DD for 7 months for naps and bedtime. If it's working why change it? There's no rule that says you have to stop swaddling at a certain age.

Same here. The first night she gave us a hard time but after that it was smooth sailing

We swaddled for naps and night with the miracle blanket until 5 months. One night I went to swaddle DS for bed and he fought me so much so I put him down w/o it and he was never swaddled again! I don't think you need to stop until the child is ready. My ped's only concern was overheating the baby so make sure DC is not hot. I used to think I was going to send DS off to college swaddled!

I also went cold turkey. One day I woke up and she had rolled into the bumper and couldn't roll back. That was it for us. She was 4 1/2 months old. There were a few rough days, but she adjusted pretty quickly. I used a sleep sack to keep her feeling cozy. She actually slept longer once she was able to put herself back to sleep.

Cold turkey @ 3.5 months. You'd be surprised how well they do.
