How do you pick a middle name?? (w/poll)

DH and I are having a hard enough time picking out a first name

I think middle names should be more "family" names and he thinks it should just be what sounds good with the first name.

How did you come up with your DC's middle name?

Our boy middle name will be after DH's grandfather. And we already have the second boy middle name after his cousin. LOL, now we will probably have all girls becuase we can't come up with any girls names

I had to compromise with DH, my deceased FIL had a very German first name and DH was insistent that if it is a boy to name him that, while I loved my FIL, it is a difficult name...we compromised...we are using the first initial and then probably my father's name for the middle name.

We wanted a name that sounded nice but tried to incorporate the family.
DS's middle name is my dad's name and for DD we took my mom and my MIL's initals. So the D in for my MIL and the M is for my mom for her middle name.

We tried finding a family name that would work, but unfortunately our families have horrible middle names!

So we're just trying to find something we like now!

It's a memory of someone who has passed in DH's family.

If we have a girl, her middle name will be my motrhers name, which is also my middle name. Now if only we can decide on first names lol

1st baby has my MIL's maiden name, but the next 2 will probably just have a name that sounds good with their first name.

for a boy it will be after my grandfather.
for a girl it will be my moms name and also my middle name..cause i love it.

Our son's was named after both of our grandfathers - so we went with family names for both his first and middle name.

if it's a boy the first and middle names will use the first letters of our paternal grandfather's names (who are both deceased) - L and M

if it's a girl, it will probably be whatever sounds nice together.

We had a choice of 3 family names (DH's name, DH's father's name, or DH's Grandfather's name). We chose the one that sounded best with the first name we picked out!

In my faith we name after the deceased, but the honor of giving the name is actually in Hebrew and not in English. Though some are convinced they must use the initials of the deceased - they don't.

We have chosen English names of our choice and plan on giving Ed-lie Bubbles the female equivalents for my father and DH's grandfather's Hebrew names.

A few months after her birth, she will be honored in Temple and officially welcomed to be raised in the Jewish faith as she receives her Hebrew names - same way a boy receives his at his bris.

(BTW, a bris is not a circumcision but a baby naming WITH a circumcision - common misconception)

With DD#1 and 2 we chose what sounded nice with there first name

we chose ours because it went nice with the first name. Maybe next baby we will have a more of a meaning to our baby's name.

We had a few names in mind (for a first name) when DS was born, and some middle names picked out to go with each.

When he was actually born, we thought one of the first names was perfect for him. But none of the middle names seemed right at all. we wound up going with another potential first name. It had no significance, we just liked it.

i voted family name bc she will have my grandmother that passed 2 yrs ago's name Josephine.....she was very special in my life and i miss her everyday....i love the idea that i will look at my daughter and know that she has a connection with her by name at least since she didnt get to meet her in life

DD's middle name is Jacklynn spelt that way for a reason obvisouly...my grandfathers name was Jack and my middle name is Lynn so we put them together for her middle name

We plan to honor our Grandfathers who have recently passed away.
Albert + Dexter (our Grandfathers) = Alexis or Alex.
