How do you know if you're paying into short term disability?
This is probably going to be a seriously stupid question..but..
Aside from contacting HR is there anyway to look at your check and see if you are paying into short term disability?

It depends on how you signed up. If you signed up thru your job then it should show on ur pay stub. For example. Nys disability or a group insurance plan.
I opted for private coverage and that comes out of my checking acct.

Usually, NYS Dis or other short term group costs about 60 cents or biweekly $1.20

Thanks ladies. On my checks it says "NY-Disability Employee" is that it? So does this mean I can collect short term disability?

If there is a figure next to it showing you contribute (pay), you should be covered. Last I checked, it pays up to 170 weekly but that was a LONG time ago. GL

If there is a figure next to it showing you contribute (pay), you should be covered. Last I checked, it pays up to 170 weekly but that was a LONG time ago. GL
It was still $170/ wk when I claimed in 2010. From what I heard that number hasn't change in 25 years. You can collect up to 4 weeks for a vaginal birth and 6 weeks for a csection.

how do you know if you can collect? Does a p/t job count? I was working 2 p/t jobs and both were taking short term disability out. I am now on bedrest. Could I collect now? Where can I go for info?
