I just use a detergent that has a bleach alternative. I never use actual bleach. Every now and again I'll put the cycle on "Whitest Whites" and they come out pretty good.

I bleach the heck out of them in hot water People always know when I have a whites cycle in, you can smell the bleach throughout my basement!

I use Yellow Out. You put it in the water first with your detergent then add your clothes. Let them soak for about 1/2 an hour. then wash as usual. They come out sparkly white. I buy it at Target.
