Don't think about it, take everything as it happens. When you're in the moment it goes fast. There isn't much time to think about what's happening. Good Luck!

I agree with this completly. I had DS1 last April and even after a long labor and emergency C i am going into this one with an open mind. Due in 4 weeks. The way i look at it is this baby has to come out one way or another and there is nothing we can do about it.
I am just going with the flow tyring for a VBAC but if it doesnt happen it is not the end of the world.
As the others have said go in with an open mind and you cant be dissappointed once there is a healthy baby in your arms.
The pain etc will all be in the past but this little bundle is all in the future.

How do you get over the nerves?
I went into it saying I was going to be the best and it wouldn't hurt at all. I psyched myself into it and had a great labor! A lot of it is in your mind. I read something about being nervous translating into more pain - I don't know how true that is, but it motivated me to think positive! It will happen and there is nothing you can do!!! Good luck!

A little TMI....
After I finally came to terms with the fact that I was NOT having diarrhea cramps, and that those cramps were actually labor pains, I kind of went into "o.m.eff.g" mode. Every cramp came before I had to poop so I just assumed I was having gassiness all night. When I woke up the next morning and started timing myself (I thought it would be for sh!ts and giggles!), I realized that there was a pattern to them. Yikes. I kicked into gear.
I guess because I had my baby on my due date I was not ready to admit that I was having a baby (I was told repeatedly "evvvvvvvvveryone's first comes wayyyyyyyy after your due date"). Having my mom and husband there helped a lot.
To be honest, the only thing I kept thinking was "I am getting the epidural the minute I walk into the hospital!" I wasn't in excrutiating pain....but I'm a wimp and really didn't want to feel any of it! 
I'll be honest, the epidural changed my life! Modern medicine is absolutely amazing. I felt nothing once I had it and I had a very 'easy' labor. Delivery was a bit scary (chord around baby's neck - everything was ok though!)....but the pain was verrrrrrrrry minimal.
Be true to yourself. If you know you don't do well with pain - don't be a hero. Use the medications available to you as soon as you want to use them.
I hate saying ish like this - because everyone said it to me before giving birth - but you will know what to do when the time comes. It's weird.
As my OB said, 'There's always an eviction date for baby!'

Exactly. I was so nervous for a couple of weeks and then when the time came, I was so preoccupied, there was no time to be nervous. Then it got to the point where I wanted that kid OUT so any remaining nerves went to the wayside and I became very focused on eviction.
Just try not to think about it and enjoy your last little bit of time. Good luck!

You just go with the flow. One can never be fully prepared because you just never know what's going to happen next. When my water broke is when I really got nervous but the nurses will help you out so much. Just relax the best you can. One thing at a time.
