how do you & DH share chores?

DH & I are not agreeing in this dept lately... just curious how you all have your 'chores system'.

Also, does it count if when it's your turn to do the chores, that you pay someone else to do it?

DH and i share chores. we basically have our "own" but we also help each other when one is overwhelmed/tired.

I do stuff on my own that needs to be done, and I bug DH until he does stuff that I want him to do...otherwise, he'd never think to do anything chore related!

He does clean up after dinner, b/c I almost always cook.

We don't, I pretty much do everything although he does offer to help on the weekend. but it's my job because I'm home and he is working hard to support us. I'm truly blessed.

We have a cleaning lady, thank goodness - it's saves a lot of arguments ...

but we split other things -
Food shopping: him
Bill paying & paperwork: me
Laundry: we share
cooking: mostly me because I get home earlier
clean up: we share
straightening up: we share, but I'm more particular so I end up doing more.

It works out really well for us. I hate to think of the day when I no longer have a cleaning lady

I do most of the inside cleaning...
DH does the cooking and fixing up and outside care

I usually do the inside cleaning and DH does outside stuff like garbage and lawn stuff, weeding, etc. We split cooking cause DH BBQ's and I cook inside stuff. Dh does his own laundry though.

DH loves to do laundry... so I "let" him do it although I don't care for it so it kind of works out well.

If I ask him to do something like wash the dishes, he'll do it. I won't sit and watch TV when he does it, I'll help dry. We share the "chores." I'm sure once we have a house he'll take care of the outside (he waters the plants on our balcony now) and I'll handle the items inside.

I clean the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom. DH will vacuum and clean the glass tables, plus he's in charge of cleaning his huge 65 inch tv. I have to admit...he makes the bed better than I do.

I do all of the cooking and cleaning.... DH does the vacuuming and takes the trash out. We have a lawn service so DH doesn't cut the grass.

I do ALL the housework

he mows the lawn(he thinks I should do this too)

He thinks since I am a house wife/mother that all these chores are my job and his 8hr a day job is his

I am seriously the worst wife in the world!! He does just about everything. We take turns with the cooking, he does the laundry, he washes the dishes, he would vaccuum, but I don't let him because he breaks the vaccuum EVERY time. But I do the dusting and window/appliance cleaning. I make the bed and I mostly do the grocery shopping.
But, in my defense, He has the easier work schedule 10 months out of the year.

He mostly cooks (he likes to) and he cleans the kitchen, mops the floor (because he is a perfectionist about the kitchen). He mows the lawn and takes care of the handyman type of stuff.

I vacuum, do the laundry, dust& straighten up, clean the bathroom, feed & take care of the pets. Take care of the household organization.

I walk Casey in the AM, and he walks her before we go to bed (we share in between).

DH is full time student/full time employee, the poor guy has no time. so I cook, laundry, shop, clean, and iron. He tries to be helpful on Sundays, but I would rather he not. He needs a break. He will unload dishwasher and things like that but no set chores.

My DH and I have been having issues about this lately.

He thinks that because he works 2 jobs that he's GOD! Seriously... that's his attitude sometimes! He feels that he shouldn't have to do anything. Well, he hasn't said that exactly, but doesn't do much either. Now, I work FT and take care of an 18.5 month old before and after work and on weekends. He thinks all I do at night is sit on the couch and watch TV. Boy is he clueless! He doesn't understand that I can't clean the whole house, cook, do laundry, take care of my son who does not sit still and 2 large dogs, take the garbage out, make lunches, mow 1/2 an acre, weed, pay the bills, etc. by myself.

I understand he's tired but so am I. He needs to compromise with me. MEN!!!

I hate to do the laundry, so he does it. While he is doing it, I clean everthing at home.
I cook, he does the dishes. And if one of us is very tired, then we pitch in and help. We have a great arrangement.

We have a cleaning lady, but for the most part, I do the inside stuff like staighten up, vaccuum, laudry, grocery shopping, take care of the pets, make lunches.

He does the outside stuff...mowing the lawn, garbage, handy-man stuff.

We take turns cooking...

Here's how our home works...
he makes the mess
I clean it.

I swear I would have half the amount of work to do if he just went the extra step and put the plates in the dishwasher instead of the sink. Or put in socks in the laundry basket instead of on the floor. But I can't really complain - he is so wonderful in so many other dept.'s that I let it roll off my back.

I do have a cleaning lady come twice a month so I dont do any heavy cleaning....just dishes, daily clean up, Dh does the laundry more than I do, and he takes out the garbage and does the outdoor "manly" stuff.

As far as bills and basically everything else, I pay them, I do all the paperwork in the house (All the calls, insurance, bills, contractors, organization) I run the house that way. (But that is my call - its kind of a control thing - I need to make sure it is done correctly and organized, my DH has never even kept a checkbook - forget balance one.)

We both do everything - laundry, dishes, clean the house. He isn't allowed to do my laundry anymore thought...too many "oops" with my clothes.

He changes the litter box, I cant because of TTC.

He mows the lawn (sometimes I do) and I garden. But we share everything else, including grocery shopping. I refuse to go alone. He complains sometimes but I told him too bad! We both worth full time and we are both going. I think its only fair.

FH works and goes to school full time, so during the school year, I do everything. When he is on summer vacation, he picks up 1/2 the load of chores. He usually cleans the kitchen, takes out the garbage, puts away his own clothes (we send it to the laundromat) and cleans the hamster cage. We do the grocey shopping together in the summer- its fun!
