How do I found a financial planner?

We want to see a financial planner to make the most of our income, make sure we are saving enough for retirement, get bills under control etc.

Is there a directory of some sort - anyone know?

Usually through a recommendation from a family or friend. We dont have one but I think there are a few girls on here who would probably be able to help you. Did you do a search for past posts?

Do you have an accountant that does your taxes? Most accountants are finincial planners as well- mine does both.

I would advise checking in at your bank. Most have investment banker/brokers there who can walk you through everything-- short term savings, long term savings, retirement etc. Many of them also have licenses to sell insurance as well, so it really is a full service stop. And the nice part about doing it through your bank is that you can unify all of your accounts and not have to worry about third parties.

If you belong to a Credit Union, check there. Most have Financial Advisors, and the services are free.

i was referred to one by my job... they have specfic companies that we must do our 403b's with, so it worked otu great.

my parents found one through a referral from their accountant.

You can get a referral through your lawyer or accountant.
