How do I find a babysitter? Kinda weird situation.
I had some recc's for people but in the summer. I need someone Now and Its a weird situation.
Basically with this PG, I need to start seeing the high risk Dr's and it could become as often as 2x a week in the next few months and I cannot bring my Son to the appoinments.....
But I wont have a clear cut ahead of time notice about when I need someone?
And I will only need someone a few hours a week.
How the heck would I go about finding someone like this? Any suggestions?
BTW- I have no family ( most work F/T) able to assist.
TIA!!!!

Could a Mother's Helper come with you to the appointments? To help out with DS while you are actually in the appointment?

Sometimes college students are willing to take hours like this --- maybe you can find someone in an elem ed major that only goes to school a couple of days a week. I was pretty flexible when I babysat in college. Also maybe a neighbor would be willing to

Maybe if I knew how to find one. LOL
Although the appnts do last long...sometimes a long wait plus an hour visit ( 20 min sono and 20 minute on monitors etc)

Most preschools run summer camps for his age group. Why not put him in that program. Have him go 2-3 days a week for a few hours a day and then schedule your appointments then.
The camps are very reasonable. I'm sending DD to one for 6 weeks, 3 days a week, 3 hours a day for less then $500.

This is a tough one - I would probably look into a homecare type of situation that is very flexible where you can drop Noah off for a few hours. I wouldn't want to bring him to the appointments if they were that often. It's too much for you and for him. It will probably be hard to find a mothers helper since the days/times will always be different. At least, if you find an in home daycare that has flexible hours - maybe they will be willing to work with you!

The mother's helper is a good idea....
What about a college student who maybe works evenings? And you can hire her to come and play with Noah at 1st while you are there, and then work out a schedule with her? Usually after you meet with the doctor they tell you to come at certain times, so you may have a schedule together soon enough....

Call your church, temple, etc. I know St. PAt's in Smithtown, has a list of caregivers that would probably be interested in a situation like this. I'm not sure whether these people are screened or not but I do have friends that have hired people from this list.

My daughters are very good with that age group...although they are on the young side....they have lots of experience...They spend a lot of time by you too...

Have you tried sitter city? I've looked at the profiles and the people look qualified. I haven't needed a sitter yet so I didn't pay the membership fee.

Well its hard to schedule appoinments there when you want them, but besides that I discussed preschool with EI and they agree he is not ready for full seperation and feel we have come a LONG way in his seperation anxiety to risk any set backs at such a crucial time for me. ( that said, he will be going to a partial seperation class but that doesnt help me much....lol) At least with babysitting, he will be in his own envirnoment.
