Bridal Shower Question / Weird situation

I went to elementary school with this girl who is now getting married. We stopped being friends after elementary school and then bumped into eachother in HS and became friends again. Afrer HS we lost touch and last year we bumped into eachother at the mall and have now become more friendly then ever.

I was invited to her bridal shower but I will only know two other people there - the Maid of honor ( we have been very close friends since we were babies) who is throwing the shower and the MOH's mom - who I had a huge falling out with a few years ago and haven't seen since.

I RSVP'D yes before I know the MOH's mom was attending. Now I feel really uncomfortable and don't want to go. I already got a gift - what should I do? **** it up or make an excuse and try to get out of it and send the gift anyway? Chat Icon

I would just suk it up and go - it's for your friend. As long as you are not sitting right next to the lady you don't like, it really won't make a difference if she's there.

Do what will make you happy. If you don't want to go then don't.

I don't think its assigned seating but I don't know anyone else there.

Also I will be the last to arrive b/c the MOH asked me to be the one who gets the bride to the shower location.

i would go. its your friends shower, go and support your friend, and since it has been years since the fallout with the moh's mom. i would just say a nice hello to her at the shower, and just enjoy the rest of the day.

I would go for my friend & be civil, but not friendly to the MOH's mother.

I agree - go because it's the right thing to do. But..if you feel uncomfortable or unhappy after a while...I don't see why you couldn't make an excuse (baby) to leave early.

I think I would go! Be there for your friend. MOHs mom may be so busy, you may not even have to deal with her.Chat Icon

If you are the one that is responsible for getting the bride there, i don't think you should back out - but definitely come up with an excuse to leave early.

No the MOH and I are very close - I had the falling out with the MOH's mom ( who used to be like a 2nd mother to me growing up)

Then I take my previous post back. If you are that close to this girl, and you are part of the plan to get her there, you really should go

I have have been to a couple of showers where I only know the guest of honor and it was fine -- everyone there is there for the same reason and found that everyone is generally pretty friendly.

Having a back up plan to get out early is not a bad thing to have though Chat Icon

Because of this, I think you really just need to **** it up and go. It probably won't be as bad as you're anticipating it to be.
