Re: HOw do

they tell you how much LH (lutenizing hormone) is present at the time of the test. so the test is only positive if the test line is the same color or darker than the control line. at any time in your cycle the test may detect some lower levels of LH. but before you O your LH surges. so if the test line is the same or darker than the control line it means youre having an LH surge and that you will most likely O within 12-36 hours.

OPKs cant confirm that you did successfully O, they just give you fair warning that your body is gearing up for it.

Very well said. If I may just add for those that might be interested in further clarification - when your LH surges, it signals to the ovaries to actually release an egg. You always have LH in your system so more often than not, you will get SOME sort of line when you use an OPK, but as FlowerWife said, you must look for a line that is as dark or darker than the control line.

One more thing to add....they can be really frustrating at first. I had a super hard time reading them and being consistent enough.
So, just figure out what method works best for you to track when you O.

Good luck!

Many women report that they have trouble with deciphering the line darkness etc... which is why some women prefer to use the digital OPKs (of course, those cost more!).
