How did you teach to wave or clap hands?

Im assuming obviously through repetition but DS (7months) has no interest in copying anything (no baba dada etc either) just wants to crawl, stand and cruise. I clap hands or say baba 3884992478/ times and he laugjs at me.

Is it still early for him to start copying?

DS didn't start waving, clapping and speaking until 11 months.

I don't think you really do teach them. They eventually self teach themselves a lot. Mason had no interest in clapping, pointing, etc. He always did what he wanted to do. Always happy and had a great attention span, but no interest.
He started clapping later on maybe 9 months or so and didn't even get into pointing till 14 - 15 months. Now he points and claps for everything.

I wouldn't worry. Just keep doing what you're doing. They do take everything in and will do it on their own at their own time

Just keep doing it in the proper context and they'll get it eventually. Over emphasize it as well.

Ita me and my dh always wave goodbye to each other in the morning Lara started waving bye bye at around 6 or 7 months she just copys everything we do ..

My theme of the day is, I don't teach, I lead by example

My mother has been in a rut because she's been trying to teach ds to clap and while he thinks she's funny he has no interest. She stopped.

I clap when I sing sometimes, or just random.

Ds is 10m, he was picking at some banana at his high chair. Smacked his hands together and looked at me. I said "I think you claped" he did it again, and now he will clap on cue (when in the mood)

He's been waving since 7m, but I think his right hand is very dominant so most things he can do with one hand, but didn't figure how to put them together till recently.

He also recently figured out how to throw a ball a few days ago, and how to kick one but only if he's holding on standing to something. I just leave him a lone and let him play.

As for babbling, he was doing mama, la, da, agoo, all at 4m, then stopped suddenly and we heard nothing of that variety till about 9m. And at 10m he's trying to copy what we say.. when we are talking he chimes in with his gibberish language, we say some new interesting word like ketchup, hell try to say it, it will sound like "eshup" .. yogurt "yaya" banana "bamama" he just doesn't really try real words independently yet.

DD started saying baba and mama at 6.5 months. She babbles. No clapping or waving bye bye.
I am teaching her to say bye whenever someone leaves, but she hasn't done it on her own yet.
She'll be 8 months on 1/25

I think it really depends on the child. DS I clapped and waved until my hands were blue LOL and, it wasn't until he was 8mos that he started doing both. Strangely, at 7mos he would clap but, with his hands closed.

My DD, never really did either except when the situation called for it and, one day when she was 6.5 mos old at her brother's bday party she started clapping along with everyone else and never stopped. She would wave with her whole arm from early on, but, a real wave she did at just about 8 mos and at 8mos she would wave and say hi at the same time. Bye she diidn't say until 9.5.
