How did you pick your RE?
So when we picked our original RE it was easy. There were only two options and only one of those options took our insurance.
As many of you know, we are very unhappy with this option so we are now traveling to NYC/LI for treatment. "Problem" now is everyone accepts our insurance and there are just so many options.
We are dealing with severe MFI (my husband is currently on medicine to raise his testosterone levels and had varicocele surgery). The ones who seem to have the best statistics for MFI are: RMA, East Coast, and NYU.
Any information you have in regards to these clinics would be most appreciated. My husband is a science person and needs to heavily weigh pros and cons before moving forward...
TIA

How did you pick your RE?
I dont have any experience with any of those, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck!!! My sister was dealing with MFI and PCO, and she saw Dr Palter at gold coast IVF. She loved him. She had 2 failed IUI and her first IVF was successful. She gave birth to two healthy babies Dec 26th. I go to RSoNY, I don't know that they specialize in MFI, But I love Dr Lydic, Dr Bronson, and Dr Stelling.

How did you pick your RE?
It cant hurt to consult with all 3 facilities you mentioned to see what their protocol will be and then you can make an informed decision on which RE you choose...I went on 4 different IVF consults before picking the facility that would best suit my needs...I am all about seeking lots of opinions before selecting cause all it costs you is your time and maybe a co-pay

Re: How did you pick your RE?
we do not have male factor but we go to rma in nyc and are very happy there. They have an on site urologist right in the practice.
As for the Re, He was recommended by a family member who is a nyc ob saying he's the best at getting women pregnant. he already did a surgery on m in Nov. I am now in the 2ww.
Fm me if you want more info.

Re: How did you pick your RE?
If you're dealing with MFI, hands down, go to RMA b/c the urologist is in the same office as the REs. Then the urologist and your RE can make a plan together, you get tested together, etc. Everything is in the same place.

Re: How did you pick your RE?
My OB/GYN have me 2 referrals. I chose Dr. Palter at Gold Coast IVF. It's a small practice, just one doctor and a few nurses. The care is very personalized and not cookie-cutter. Dr. Palter is wonderful... very caring, knowledgeable and available to answer questions and offer advice. I am happy to say that after only 3 months of treatment, I am now 7 weeks pregnant!

Re: How did you pick your RE?
Maybe this isn't the best way to pick , but I picked a place where the hours and location were convienent for me. I knew logistics would give me lots of extra stress that I don't need. As you will see from this board , one person might worship an RE another person might loath. I have to hope that in the NY metro area there aren't going to be too many instances of flat out bad REs because if everyone hated them they would go out of business, we are lucky enough to have a bunch of choices and go elsewhere. We don't like to think of our doctors as a business , but that is what they are. When I read on other messages boards that people have to travel 4 hours each way to the RE and that is their only option I consider myself very lucky.

We only had MFI and went to rsony and I'm happy to say we loved dr trivax there. My husband was on meds for over 9 months and they worked with his urologist to come up with a plan. We are doing our ivf retrieval tomorrow . Good luck and happy to discuss if you want to FM me

How did you pick your RE?
I found my current RE through this board- I kept reading many success stories and heard nothing but great things about the practice. Since we do not have fertility coverage, I didn't have to worry about if they were in network or if they were covered.
