How bad is prednisone??

Honestly.

Due to DQ Alpha match, Dr. B has recommended I start prednisone and IV intralipids next cycle Im ready to TTC. I dont have a problem with the intralipids; the prednisone has me worrying 24/7.

Ive been hearing terrible experiences from people on this. Not to mention I have looked up just about every side effect. I worried about the changes it will cause physically and mentally. I used to take meds for anxiety but stopped about a year ago. Now Im wondering if Ill be able to handle the prednisone without having constant anxiety attacks.

I think when the time comes I will ask him if I can just do the intralipids.

Can anyone share their experience with prednisone or with my situation?

I have the same concerns.

I'm on 10mg once a day and I do notice that I'm a little grouchier and hungrier but not crazy.

I hope not to be on it for a long time but if I can't handle it I will stop.

I took prednisone for my first cycle and the only thing it did to me was it made me so hungry - I was like a bottomless pit. No anxiety though, thankfully.
I did gain weight from it.

it wasn't too bad for me ..
i gained a little weght from it.. probably from all the hunger.
but not anxiety

I am doing the same thing. I have been on prednisone since November and other than a little weight gain, I don't notice any other side effects.

I was on prednisone until 18 weeks of my pregnancy. I had no side effects at all. I mean I gained weight but I was pregnant!

It really depends on how much you are on. I am not going to lie but it really sucks. However, I did get pregnant on the treatment and am due in 10 weeks.

Crashing as I was on prednisone for a year before I got preggo, and the first tri.

I was on heavy duty doses at some points (80mg). It definitely did not cause anything mentally.

The only effects I had were weight gain (a lot for me because i was on a high dose for a year), puffy face and striations (fancy for stretch marks). I was also ravenous at times.

It was totally worth it though. I've been on courses of prednisone on and off for a few years. You lose the weight, your face goes back to normal and you will be fine.

Im on it for elevated NK cells. Started out w/ 20mg a day. Now that my levels are down to normal.......Im down to 10mg/day until I ovulate.......then I go back on 20mg.

Im on them for about 4 weeks now. I actually lost 5 pounds in the beginning b/c I changed my eating habits a little.

I gained a few pounds recently, b/c every night after dinner, DH wants brownies. But thats gonna have to change!

As long as you eat good and healthy, I dont see the weight gain as an issue.

One thing I have noticed..........is horrible breaking out on my chest. Tiny small pimples. Weird? And I know its the prednisone thats doing that.
