Hourly rate for nanny

What is the normal rate in the area for a nanny? I am looking to get a part time nanny who will come to our house three days a week for about eight or nine hours for one newborn. On sittercity it lists the average rate as
$12.67. A coworker told me $12. My sister in law says $10'or $11 but it seems like all the nannies that are listed are looking for $15 and up. Just curious how much other people are paying. I want to give a fair rate but I also don't want to totally be overpaying.

A nanny to me is runs errands, light cooking, tiding up. A babysiter just takes care of the child.
Average for sitter is $10-15per hr.

ps:Nanny makes more then sitters.

Re: Hourly rate for nanny

I paid $12.50 just to watch my kid. If I had wanted cleaning, laundry or errands I think it would be more per hour.

The lowest i've ever come across is $12. But the range really is from 12-15, for sure.

My babysitter charges $12 an hour. She actually is my son's teacher at daycare.

Re: Hourly rate for nanny

For an actual nanny( not baby sitter) its about $20 to $25 hr plus benefits. For a babysiter about $15 an hour.
