Hot tub?

Hey all...let's just say we were hypothetically going to contract and we had a choice over whether or not their hot tub stays or goes..anyone have experience with one (maintaining, etc.), please let me know! Thanks!!

my parents had one growing up, and DH and i have one now (came with the house). i've never personally done the maintenance on them, BUT i know it is pretty low compared to other things, like a pool. my parents had both a pool and a hot tub, and the hot tub is definitely more "worth it", because you can use it for more of the year. you use it from fall till spring, and sometimes even in the summer at night if it cools down...
the chemicals are easy to do. i beleive for ours now, dh puts something in every week or every other week, and then theres also a "shock" that he puts in after each time we use it.
the electric bill does go up a little bit to keep the water heated, but if its a newer hot tub with a digital thermostat, you can keep it at a lower temp, and then turn it up about a half hour or so before you want to get in.

thanks..we've heard it's less maintenance than a pool and we figure we'll try it and see if we like it and after a couple of years if we don't, we get it out...thanks for the info!!
