Hospitals

Does everyone/anyone alrady know where they will be giving birth? I'm a bit of an overplanner so I was researching the hospital that my gyno is affiliated with. (Haven't even gotten a BFP yet lol)It's Southside LIJ in Bayshore. I really liked what I saw based on the info on their website and SIL also delivered there and was very happy with her experience. I was just owndering if there any other crazy ladies like me out there!Chat Icon

Re: Hospitals

That was part of how I picked my ob practice. My midwife is affiliated with Winthrop, a hospital I definitely wanted to deliver in b/c of its reputation. I think ahead, too.

Re: Hospitals

Lots to think about when picking a hospital. I went with a practice that delivers at North shore manhasset b/c they have a NICU...not all hospitals do, so if god forbid anything happens they have to be sent to another hospital..I didn't want that to happen. So definitely do your research as to waht's important to you..

I thought a private room was important to me...winthrop does it for $250/night...Manhasset like k$600/night but in the end I was told that Manhasset was better...so I went with that...who knows. Lots to know!

I also chose my OB based on where he delivers!

Re: Hospitals

Yes, I will be delivering at Winthrop because my OB/Gyn is affiliated there, as well as my Orthopedic Surgeon. I have major back issues so it only makes sense to deliver where both docs are affiliated in case I have any problems.

My friend delivered at Southside and the baby was in the NICU. She had a great experience there.

I delivered my DD at St. Charles in Port Jefferson and I LOVED it!!! It was a small hospital, VERY clean, bright and cheery, the staff was great and the food was AWESOME! I plan to deliver DC #2 there as well! Chat Icon

Re: Hospitals

My DH works for a hospital in the North Shore system, so I would be delivering Manhasset.

My OBGYN is affiliated with Southshore Hospital.

I don't know much about them, but my mom had to have a procedure a few years back that put her on maternatiy ward. She loved it! She couldn't have nicer things to say about them.

My brother was born there 18 years ago. My mother always said that if she ever had another, she'd go there in a heartbeat.

I picked my doctor knowing their hospital affiliation, I am in Westchester though. All private rooms! Very happy about that!
