Hospital tours
What happens on these tours and are they really necessary to go to? I'll be delivering at stony brook so if anyone has any specifics for that hospital as well, I'd appreciate the info! Thanks!

Re: Hospital tours
I did the tour there and found it pretty helpful. I'd never actually been there before, so it was good to see where the parking and entrance were, where to go for labor and delivery. They also take you through what to expect that day, what their standard practices are, visiting hours, etc. I'll see if I can find the #. They do them on weekends at I think 5pm.

Re: Hospital tours
We did ours for Huntington Hospital. I also found it helpful since now we will no exactly where to go and what to do. The last thing I want when the time comes is to be overwhelmed trying to figure out where to go. It was also nice to see the L&D rooms and recovery rooms so that I know what to expect. Our tour was not long, maybe 45 mins to an hour.

Re: Hospital tours
It was a piece of mind seeing where I would be. When the time came it helped knowing exactly where to go. Absolutely necessary, nope.

Re: Hospital tours
I actually just had my hospital tour today and I found it very helpful. I wouldnt say its necessary but it def. eased some of my anxiety knowing how the rooms look and the procedure of the hospital.

Re: Hospital tours
Necessary, no. Helpful, yes. If this is your first LO I'd say go for it.

Re: Hospital tours
I never did the tour when I had DD 5 years ago b/c my sister had 4 kids there in '98, '00, '02, '04 and I had DD in '06 so I didn't think I needed to.
I heard they have changed just about everything since I had DD so I will be taking the tour this time. I'm sure I'd survive if I didn't, but it'll prob be helpful.
