Hospital Bill Question

I am on my own insurance policy, DD was put on my DH's plan as soon as she was born. We are still waiting on her ID cards, etc.

Is there any reason why the pediatrician would be charging ME separately for care of my DD while we were in the hospital?

I would have expected his charges to go to my husband's insurance for the baby and for the baby to be listed as the patient, not me - correct?

UGH, my medical bills are screwed up, and I know this is going to be a big hassle. I hate high deductible plans. Ok, vent over.

You need to make sure the pediatrician has your DH's info. If they do, tell them they billed the wrong insurance.

ETS: Your stuff is probably what the hospital had on file for you.

We did that.. but AJ was covered while she was in the hospital with me. Its sort of like saying she and I WERE the same until we left. She was on his insurance from date of birth, but it really didn't kick in until she was released.

I never once added her to mine until we moved to TX.

This was all made clear to me before I had her though. Its been 4yrs so its a little blurry but before I went in I had made it known to EVERYONE she was on his bill not mine. But they told me very VERY clearly she would be on mine for 10 full days. Meh

I still ended up owing but mostly for me and not her. By the time her bills came though I had blown thru my deductible!

Since your DD was not under any insurance they assume she will be on yours when you get your insurance card call the hospital immediately with the information and they will send the bills to your husband's insurance. You have 30 days to do this.
