Hospital Bag

When are you packing it? and What are you putting in it?

BTDT moms, anything you think would have been really helpful to have?

Hospital Bag

I have my bag pretty much packed just need to throw a few tank tops in there when the time actually comes.

Yoga Maternity Pants
Maternity Pajama Pants
Light pajama cardigan thing
Pack of granny panties
couple pairs of socks
maternity tank tops
pads
towels
Went to the drugstore and got travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, etc.

All I really have to do is throw my makeup in the bag right before we go

I packed the diaper bag with the babies stuff so I'll bring that too

A couple things you might want to add...

Flip flops for the shower

If you are not planning on breast feeding (formula feeding only) buy & bring sports bras to wear to keep them as compressed as possible. It helps with the engorgement that happens a few days after birth.

Personally I would save your pads for when you're home. They'll supply you with more than enough there. Also, if you're going to have your phone or other electronics remember to bring the chargers.

Hospital Bag

I packed two pairs of sweats / tops but ended up just wearing one home and was in the hospital gown the whole time.

My "normal" overnight bag stuff -- bathroom supplies.

If you are paying out of pocket, bring your own colase and motrin. They charged an INORDINATE amount for these pills -- probably each pill they charged as much as a whole bottle would be at the pharmacy. If you're deductible is met, though, it's not a big deal. I just remember seeing the bill and was annoyed.

Crocs or flip flops are a must

Some say bring your own boppy if you're BF. I just piled up pillows they gave me to help support the baby.

I didn't bring my own pads. I used the ones they gave me. Same with their towels. I brought one for DH to use since he stayed over with me, but for me, I used the hospital ones so I wouldn't bleed all over mine.

I didn't bring any baby supplies except DD's coming home outfit. I used the diapers they gave me. I wish I'd had my own A&A blanket though. Might bring that this time. Although I do love the little baby hospital blanket too.

Bring a phone charger and camera charger. We brought change but didn't use it. Good to have in case you want something from a candy machine or whatnot. I needed extra snacks because they didn't feed me nearly enough!!! I was STARVING all the time!

Find out if DH needs to bring his own pillow / blanket if he's staying over.

Re: Hospital Bag

Definitely not needed but really nice to have - your own pillow (in a case other than white so that it doesn't get mixed up with theirs).

I really liked having my own towels as well.

If there is a chance you might have a room mate, lysol - using the bathroom can get gross and it was a lifesaver.

The thing that I was most happy to bring the second time that I hadn't thought of the first time - ear plugs! I am a super light sleeper and they allowed me to get a good night's sleep. The amount of noise from the nurses, my room mate, other patients in the hall way kept me up, but with the ear plugs it was great! I was even able to nap when my room mate had visitors and I didn't.

Bring food. I only had cookies after delivery, adn for someone with gd- not the best choices. I delivered in the evening, and there was such a rush and chaos, there was no dinner--i had gone over 24 hours without eating or drinking.
dont bring too many clothes- i wore the gown until the afternoon, thefollowing day i went home. Stay in the gown, easy to breastfeed, and if it gets dirty- they take care of it. I brought flip flops for teh shower- used their booties and my slippers to walk around in. Bring slippers. You will need toiletries. You need your chargers for computer, phones/etc. Honestly anything i forgot or needed, the nurses somehow offered to get for me- asie from food at 10pm. Good luck!!
