Honeymoon suggestions

My SIL is getting married next year and looking for honeymoon ideas and reviews. Thinking more islands on the east bc I don't know if they want to do Hawaii.

Any suggestions and where you stayed? I remember going to Puerto Rico years and years ago at this beautiful resort on the water, but of course forgot where.

Thanks all!

I just came back from my honeymoon three weeks ago. We stayed in Riviera Maya at the Excellence. OMG it was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

We were amazed by the beauty of the hotel. It has 10 bars, 8 pools and 8 restaurants. All inclusive. The restaurants are top notched.

Nightly entertainment. Excursions are close by. There is nightlife, cruises, and all kinds of excursions.

They do a turn down service at the end of the night when you are at dinner which is so nice. The spa is INCREDIBLE!!

The excellence has resorts in Playa Mujueres, Punta Cana and Riviera Maya. They are opening one soon in Jamaica.

We had a fantastic time and I HIGHLY recommend this resort. It was perfect for honeymooners.

This! Looking into my honeymoon now and my travel agent highly recommended this location. Was looking into Punta Cana but he said Riviera Maya is one of the best he's been to!

Re: Honeymoon suggestions

We've done St. Lucia twice (Sandals La Toc) and absolutely loved it. I would go back a 3rd time this year but I need to try some different resorts and islands.

For us, we chose St. Lucia because it has a good mix of beautiful beaches, culture, nature (rainforest, the Pitons, drive thru volcano), and history.

We've done everything there from shopping to the our planet exhibit to diving, visiting the rain forest, making cassava bread, learning cultural dances, waterfalls, etc etc. Love the island and its people!

What time of year are they getting married? You have to be careful of hurricane season in the Caribbean - just something to keep in mind. There are a few islands (Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire) that are outside of the hurricane belt if that might be an issue

Then hurricane season isn't something they need to worry about. I know you said they've done Aruba, but I stayed at the Bucuti there for my HM and it is geared towards honymooners and couples celebrating their annivesaries (no one under 18 is allowed to stay there). Its very romantic and peaceful. If they would consider Aruba, I would highly recommend Bucuti.

Otherwise I would recommend Turks & Caicos - the most beautiful beaches! or St. Kitts - the Marriott there was great!

Re: Honeymoon suggestions

We chartered a sailboat with a captain and chef for a week and then we stayed in a villa at the Mango Bay Resort for a week...it wasn't a luxury, all-inclusive resort...we went out to eat at local restaurants and shopped in local markets and cooked in the outdoor kitchen...but we were literally steps from the ocean and totally alone! The sailboat was luxury, the second part was relaxing!

We stayed at Sandals La Toc twice, but I've also been to the other 2 Sandals on St. Lucia. Each of the 3 Sandals has its own personality. We liked La Toc because it's the best of both worlds. Our room up on the sunset bluff had incredible views, but it was also the quiet side of the resort with a nicer pool, really nice pool chairs, etc. But you could still go down to the main part of the resort if you felt like being part of the more active atmosphere. The food there was also excellent. The Grande is bigger and it definitely has the nicest beach, but it's more expensive and has more of the young/party atmosphere. Halcyon is small, all one level, plush greenery and very quiet and serene. it's also an older crowd.

There are other great resorts on St. Lucia and by virtue of having done so many tours I've seen a lot of them. Jade Mountain is so spectacular with infinity pools and no 4th walls, but my aversion to bus and my asthma meant I needed to be in air conditionind. Ti Kaye village is beautiful. And then there are some of the smaller brand all inclusives like Coconut Bay, Morgan Bay, etc.

100% agree if she is thinking Caribbean islands. She should also look at The Viceroy and Fragapani. All three have different feels. Anguilla is gorgeous and very low key. The restaurants are on the island are also fantastic

We went to the Riviera Maya on our HM and stayed at the Ibertostar Grande Resort. We had such an amazing time!!!! The specific resort is adult only, so it's perfect for a HM. We booked a standard suite and they upgraded us when we got there to an amazing suite right on the sand... it was unbelievable. They definitely want to check out the Mayan ruins!!!

I recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres if they are looking for an all inclusive. A lot of brides from LIWEddings went there. I went this past August and it was awesome.

For a non all-inclusive, I would do Turks and Caicos. The beach is beautiful and it's very quiet. Arubs is nice too but the beach isn't as nice and it's a bit more crowded.

We stayed 10 days, and 9 nights and we wish we would have stayed longer!!! 10 days is perfect!! They have SO much to do...here are some activities, the mayan ruins, tulum beaches, parasailing, ATV and snorkeling exursions, dinner cruises (romantic and pirate show cruise), nightlife clubs, swimming with the dolphins.

At the resort they have nightly shows everynight ranging from the Madonna show, Michael Jackson, circus show, etc. They have a live band that plays love songs, mexican music, latin music. They have a club on site that does hip hop night, freestyle/dance night, pop night.

They give honeymooners discounts on the dinner on the beach (highly recommend it). They have spa packages that they give good discounts for everyday (well worth it). They also do a romantic night in any restaurant that you want. They give you a specialized menu, wine and flowers.

I cant rave enough about this resort.
Really, really nice and lots to do.
