Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
did you miss having long hair? Everytime I have done it, I liked it for few months, then I just wound up growing it out.
I have long hair, and it is thick, and it takes FOREVER to dry. Which is why I hate doin it. However, once it is done, I LOVE my hair..lol!
SO, did you miss it...if you love you new chop, what style is it?

I also have thick hair and I do the same thing: grow out, chop, repeat. Right now I am in the growing out stage. I liked the cut but now I just want my long hair back. I do this every.single.time. so I think I am gonna keep it long for awhile.

I hate myself with short hair. I wear extensions becuase my own hair doesn't grow fast enough. So I would never willing chop my hair off. Never.

Ditto. Except I don't have the patience for extensions.
ETA: My mom cut off my hair when I was in 7th grade, I think I had gotten gum stuck in it. I looked TERRIBLE. Never again!

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I did "the chop" in Oct of 2009, right after my wedding. My hair was most of the way down my back and had been like that for at least 10 years. I am STILL trying to grow it back out. It didn't look bad short, I just miss my long hair.

Me too. I feel younger and more feminine with long hair. I'm loving my hair now and want it longer. But I recently saw a video of me with short hair, and I remembered how I LOVED that cut too. Ugh! That's why it is a vicious cycle for me. I like myself in long hair and with a very angled short bob.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I chopped my hair recently. Maybe about 12 inches. I was miserable. crying and all. but, i've gotten a lot of compliments, am told I look really young, and it's very easy. So, i think I prefer long hair generally, but I didn't have the time to style my long hair every day to make it look nice, so I guess in the end I don't regret it.
ETA--totally agree that long hair makes me feel more feminine. Short hair can be cute, but to me, long hair is more sensual and feminine.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I never chopped it off to the extreme, but last year I cut a good 5 inches off and I could not wait for it to grow out. Everyone I knew commented on how short it was. It looked fine but I could never style it the way I wanted. I have a haircut next week and will probably cut my standard 2 inches.
I also feel the same way about bangs. I seem to want them at least once a year and then spend the rest of the year growing them out....

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I go back and forth. I've gotten alot of compliments on my shorter hair- it is quicker to dry. But at the same time it sucks that I can't put it up in a ponytail and there's little I can do it with it. When it was longer I had more options. Also, when its short I have to style it or it looks bad. When it was longer if I just let it air dry with some mousse it would still be okay.
Short and long both have their pros and cons.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I have cut 3-4 inches at a time, and I don't miss it when I do it. My hair feels healthier. But I've never cut it really short.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
I do not miss it but I would have missed it if I did it before I was ready. I had long hair my whole life. I considered it to be a big deal when I went to bra strap length after DS was born. Then I let it get longer again and did a sudden chop to above shoulder length. I have never had my hair this short. I'm 43 now, not as patient to spend time on my hair and the texture is changing. I am not sure why my hair is thicker now but I will not complain. I still believe that 99% of men like long hair on women best. Do it if you are really ready. It does make my life easier.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
Nope, I love my hair short. I have done the cycle a bunch of times but I think short is here to stay for a long while. I couldn't stand it long anymore. It was just a thick mess and always in my way. My hair is so thick that it was so heavy when I put it in a ponytail I got massive headaches, so the ability to do ponytails didn't matter to me since I never did them anyway. I now have the front chin length and its shorter in the back, with layers/stacking (not like a reverse mullet though lol). I wear it curly, straight whatever.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
Yes I missed my long hair and will never do a chop again but thats because short hair does not flatter my face. Also I can do so many hairstyles with long hair compared to having short hair.

I loved it at first, but the growing out phase is terrible.
And my husband and almost everyone close to me "prefers" it long ...

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
i too always tend to grow, chop, grow, chop
just recently, I chopped it (at about my shoulders) and I am so happy with it. With a toddler, there is little time for anything. Just makes me day that much easier.
I promised myself I would keep up with the length, trims every 6 weeks or so.

Re: Honestly: Those who did the "chop"
Never will chop again. While I may cut a few inches off I will never do a drastic chop again. I decided I always need to be able to put my hair up.
