Homeowners Insurance?
At what point do I need to get this in order? We just accepted the sellers offer but did not go into contract or have inspection yet - inspection is Thursday. Any reccs for homeowners insurance? I feel like I have so much to do so little time (we rent from family right now so we have no homeowners ins)

Re: Homeowners Insurance?
You still have time. Once contracts are signed, inspections done then start getting quotes from different agencies. That way you can compare and get the best quote. You will need to have this in order before the closing. Good Luck !

You have time, you just need to have it before you close and it takes like, a day to get it. You still have to go into contract, then wait to get your mortgage commitment. I'd wait until after you get your mortgage commitment, they will also need it after they give it to you.

Re: Homeowners Insurance?
you could start getting quotes probably after contracts are signed and then have in order a few weeks before closing

Re: Homeowners Insurance?
When the contracts are signed start shopping, the bank will need a paid in full binder before closing, so the earlier you start the better so you can shop with a couple different companies, rates vary so much from company to company

Re: Homeowners Insurance?
Congrats!! So exciting!!
I recommend first getting a quote from whoever does your auto insurance, and if you have your e-ring insured. If you have multiple policies with one company usually you get a decent discount.
OR, if you feel like shopping around, you can tell the companies you get quotes from that you will move ALL of your insurance to them. We had to do this b/c our auto insurer didn't offer homeowners ins. on LI.
We have all thru State Farm and are pretty happy.
