How much do you pay yearly for homeowners insurance?

I just got my yearly bill and it went up. Why did it go up if the value of my house dropped tremendously? How much are you paying and where do you go? I use allstate and have the cars and the home with them, but this is ridiculous. Thanks.

Stae Farm, and it's about $800 I think.

I also have a jewelry rider for a few pieces, so my total bill is around $1000 for the year.

Re: How much do you pay yearly for homeowners insurance?

I was just quoted 1100 from two different companies and one company quoted us almost 2600, which was insane!
I think if you search around enough, you can find 1100 or under

Our quotes were between $1,400 and $2,200.

State Farm was the lowest, Geico was the highest.

Re: How much do you pay yearly for homeowners insurance?

When we bought our home, Geico wasn't even writing homeowners insurance on Long Island. I see that they are now, but those prices are all over the place huh.

I'm with SF and pay $1000. a year. It depends on a heck of a lot though, so it's hard to compare yours with other people's. Plus we have our car & umbrella with them too so we have a multi policy discount.

We pay over 1600 with State Farm. Friggin' ridiculous. It's based on rebuild value, not market value. I have a 3br ranch. Nothing fancy schmancy. In a few years my ins. will be over 2grand.

Re: How much do you pay yearly for homeowners insurance?

Liberty Mutual w/ mutliple discounts we were quoted under $850. For the same coverage State Farm was $1100 or $900 with car discount (but their car insurance was $500/yr higher than any other company we called).
This also was for replacement insurance, not depreciative value. I have some other quotes from other lenders also but off the top of my head I cannot remember them.

Re: How much do you pay yearly for homeowners insurance?

It's hard to compare rates without having all the other details too. Your deductible, liability and other riders such as an inflation rider all play into the total amount, in addition to the re-build cost. Someone may have a low rate, but have low liability. If you have a dog, swimming pool, etc. your liability will be different as well.
