approximately. I just feel like these bills are astronomically high...maybe it's because my only comparison was my studio apartment.

I do balanced billing, and it's under $140 a month for a 4 bedroom expanded cape.

We do balanced billing, we just got the renewal and it's going to be $124/month for a 4br 2.5bath house approx 2k sq ft.

ETA: We have gas heat, stove and dryer... we do leave the AC on downstairs 24/7 during the summer months bc of the pups.

So it's $200 a month, that seems normal. Ours is like $240 a month on the budget plan, and we have a lot of stuff running all the time. (we do have gas heat, hot water, dryer and stove, so those aren't added in)

ok this makes me feel a little better although it still seems we are on the high side compared to the others who responded.

Re: homeowners - how much is your lipa bill each cycle?

I've been tracking my LIPA bills in my Expense spreadsheets for many years. I have a 4-bedroom high ranch and I am mostly home during the week. Here's our yearly averages:

2009: $157.85/month
2010: $183.01/month
2011: $199.98/month
2012: (so far) $196.33/month

We run central air from about May through October.

I'm pretty sure our usage hasn't increased all that much in the past 4 years. If anything, all our new energy saving appliances and light bulbs should have decreased it. LIPA's rates have definitely gone up.

Do you have central air? I forgot to add that we do, and it's on all the time in the Summer

no, no central air...just window / sleeve units which only get turned on in the bedroom or basement depending which one we are in at the time.

About $200 a month for a 3,200 square ft home. We use central air from May-September. We did notice a decrease of $30 when we replaced one of our older TV's with a new one. All appliances we bought new in the last 3 years.

Around 150 (a little less) for a 4 bedroom dormered cape with full basement. We do not have central air and only run the room AC's on the hottest of days. My husband also installed motion lights in the laundry room, workshop and outdoors so that I wouldn't forget to turn off the lights!! Chat Icon

We are around $80 a month. I can't believe how high everyone is. We do have a small house and lots of natural light so we rarely have lights on during the day, and most of the bulbs we have are CF or LED. I think most of our appliances are energy star. DH always pays attention to how much energy things use (he's a technology teacher) and even has a gadget that measures how much things are using. I guess his efforts are working.

Balanced billing, $97/month. We both work full time, and have a 4br cape. We don't use the 2 bedrooms upstairs yet though.
