Re: Home Fertility Test....
i believe they just test your FSH levels - which most people have done on CD3 bloodwork

Re: Home Fertility Test....
Yup, I did it in February. With my crazy irregular cycles and all, I jumped on the chance to give it a go. You have to do it on CD3 and I think it's supposed to be an afternoon test, but I'm not positive. There were two in the package, which was kinda silly.
I have to say, I was really relieved to see that second line. It gave me a lot of hope that I could have children -- at least I was still fertile! It was probably a bit goofy to do, but it made me feel better at the time.

Thank You guys!
Does anyone know what specifically it tests for? That you are ovulating? etc?
I've heard of the FHS tests but I'm not 100% sure of what the even tests for.

not goofy at all. And I can totally see why it would make you feel better.

Re: Home Fertility Test....
I'm sorry, but simply looking at your FSH level means nothing about your fertility. There are SO many factors and tests that give an overall picture of fertility. That test doesn't tell you if your tubes are blocked, if your DH has male IF issues, if you're Oing, etc. It's just a way for the company to make money off of women desperate for children. TTC is a business unfortunately. If you're concerned about your fertility, I'd see a doctor for proper testing.

I've heard of the FHS tests but I'm not 100% sure of what the even tests for.
it tests FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) which in the most untechnical of ex explanations, basically signifies your ovarian reserve (ie. amount of fertilizable eggs that are available).
women are born with all of the eggs they will ever have. millions. the number drops year after year and by the time puberty hits the supply is in the 300,000 range. when you get AF each month, many eggs (follies) develop, but only one or two become mature and release (ovulation). eventually as you reach menapause, the reserve depletes and FSH rises as the depletion occurs, since it takes more hormone to release whatever eggs are left and available. also as we age the quality of the remaining eggs begins to deplete...
anyway as a PP said, there is A LOT more to it than that. just because you have normal FSH means absolutely nothing for your fertility in general. i have perfect FSH levels but i have PCOS and never O on my own. an FSH test wouldnt tell me anything about that. a CD3 FSH test has NOTHING to do with whether you are ovulating and will not tell you anything about that at all.
also, FSH can fluctuate greatly based on factors, so its not foolproof. there are several documented ways you can lower your FSH if its high, so even if a test said it was high and you were "less fertile," its virtually meaningless since there are ways to alter the hormone levels.
