I started to write my birth story the other day and then when I was almost done it got erased so I finally have a moment to write it again.
I went into the hospital on Monday (4-16-07) at 5:30pm to start my induction. They inserted the cervidil at 9:00pm and left it in till 7:00am. My doctor checked me and I was still only 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. He started pitocin at 8:00am and broke my water at 9:00am. When he checked me at 10:00am I was only 2cm dilated and still 60% effaced. My contractions were strong though and coming every 2 minutes so I got my epidural. Let me just say that is was heaven in a needle. I was checked throughout the day and still was not really progressing so at 3:30pm my doc said he would let me go another hour but the babys head was molding to my uterus so if I didn't progress by 4:30pm he was going to do a c-section. By some miracle I was now 3cm and 75% effaced so he said lets keep going a little longer. 45 minutes later he checked again and I went from 3cm to 9cm and 100% effaced. I started pushing at 7:10pm and Haley Brooke entered the world at 8:14pm.
It was such an amazing experiance. I would have 10 more kids if I knew labor and delivery would be as easy and painless as this was. My recovery has been amazing as well. No real pain to complain about.
Thankyou for all your well wishes throughout my pregnancy. It was a hard road and I'm glad I had people to share my thoughts, feelings and frustrations with.
