It keeps coming and going here in Long Beach.. It was downpours and now it has tapered off.

The National Weather Service has issued A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for the following counties in Ct....Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven...counties in Nj....Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren...counties in Ny....Bronx, Dutchess, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Ulster and Westchester.

Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 1230 PM until
800 PM EDT.
Hail to 1.5 inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind gusts to 70
mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is approximately along and 70
statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles north of
Poughkeepsie New York to 25 miles southeast of Salisbury
Maryland. For a complete depiction of the watch see the
associated watch outline update (wous64 kwns wou6).
Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally
do produce tornadoes.
Discussion... thunderstorms expected to develop across ern PA ahead
of approaching upper trough and associated mid level wind Max. With
30-35 kt of shear and heating raising MLCAPES to aoa 2000 j/kg
severe potential will increase thru the afternoon. Primary threat
will be damaging winds as storms evolve into short lines/bows.
Isolated supercells also likely enhancing severe
threat... particularly wind damage.
Aviation... a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft
to 1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60
knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm
motion vector 23030.
