Holy moly - a 1 month old's growth
So I have to preface this by saying DS (who is now almost 3) barely grew 1 pound from the time he came home till he became 1 mth. He was a very tough nurser - and to this day feels no need to eat unless I tell him to. Nursing was a nightmare and but I kept him on BM for 6 mths by pumping.
I took DD to the ped yesterday because she has a cold and I just wanted to make sure her chest was clear. DD is 6 weeks old. She has gained 4 lbs 4 ounces and 2 inches.
You have to understand, after DS, this is like a world record for us!
The ped was concerned that she is overeating and wanted me to nurse her 10 minutes on each side instead of 15 minutes. I had no idea an infant could do this....I knew she was growing faster but never thought she would have gained that much. So now I guess I know why I had really no milk for pumping after nursing. This morning I did the 10 minutes on each side and was able to pump another 5 ounces to save. Unbelievable that she was able to drink that much!

I understand that it's a real difference from your son, but just looking back at my kids' books right now...they ALL gained 4lbs (give or take an ounce or two) by 6 weeks old. They're 5, 3.5 and 10 weeks now and they're all a normal, healthy weight. I am very surprised your pediatrician would think there's a cause for concern.
