HOLY EXPENSIVE INSURANCE QUOTE BATMAN!!!
USAA-$1635!!!!! I was thinking 1400 being the max. Am I crazy or is this the going rate?

Well atleast it's not just me!!! I am going to call Amica, and Liberty Mutual and see where we get from there.

we had liberty mutual, live in oceanside, close to the water but not in the new flood zone. We started out in 2006 at like $900, it went up every year until we were at almost 1700 (no claims etc.)
From a recommendation on here I called an agent for Mercury insurance... gave me a GREAT quote... we are at like $890 for the year, with slightly better coverage.
Let me know if you want the girl I used.

Never heard of Amica.
And unfortunately Liberty Mutual isn't writing new policies in our area
Right now we're with Allstate and I was shocked with their quote.
So now I'm waiting on State Farm to call back and I have a broker working on a quote.

We have Nationwide. When we first bought our house (2006) we started at around $900 we are now up to $1,400. We have never put in a claim. My house is barely 1,100 sq ft no where near water. I guess it's time to shop around again.

We are switching and just got a quote for a policy at $1500. It's a better price than what we currently have. I didn't realize that was considered high.
It is hard to compare though because based on the square footage of your house, having a pool, proximity to water, alarm system, deductible amount etc. it can all change.

Here is her info for all that requested it... i've never met her but she is such a pleasure to work with!
its definitely hard to compare quotes but we have a decent size house, are close enough to water (oceanside), we do have an alarm system so we got a little discount for that, and obviously your credit has to be good because your quote will reflect that as well.
Her name is Michelle Davis, I was initially working with another woman there but she left and Michelle took over, shes a complete doll.

I dont know if you are in NY but we are and when we bought our house USAA quoted us like $3000 for homeowners. DH and I were like are you kidding so we went with Debbie at State Farm and she is awesome..we were paying $800 a year now its like $980 or something!! USAA in NY is crazy!

SO many factors but location is def one that will differ price.
Seek all options and also, please make sure its an A+ rating company.
Dont go with XYZ company for a very cheap rate.(if so its too good to be true at times)....you want someone reputable esp when/if there is a claim.

I am waiting for an underwriter at Michele's to look it over but she said as of now 860. A HUGE price drop.
