Dd has her first holiday boutique or whatever it's called. I'm supposed to send in money for her to buy gifts for family members. If you have done this how much Shoukd I give her per person?

I should add, the paper said there will be items starting at $1 to $20 Chat Icon I'm not sending my 5 year old in with that much per person!

Ours is $1 per item so I send them in with a $10. They buy for their brother, DH and I, both sets of grandparents and something for themselves and have $2 left.

Re: Holiday boutique at school ... how much?

I’ve run the holiday boutique at my dd for the last 2 years. $5-8 per person is a good guideline and don’t forget they love to get something for themselves. A lot of the gifts are over $5 so when people just send 5 especially if your child’s class is towards the end of the boutique they might not have a large selection of the cheaper gifts.

Our paper says most gifts are under $4 so I give $4 per person. She actually gets pretty cute stuff and does a great job picking aside from the jewelry. I told her not to get necklaces or bracelets this year but apparently to her that meant a ring was perfectly acceptable lol.

She actually asked me this year if she could buy something for herself so I sent in an extra $5 for her. LOL

Thanks. I didn't even think to send money for herself!

Re: Holiday boutique at school ... how much?

DS isn't old enough yet, but I remember being so excited for the holiday fair when I was in school. My parents never gave us money for it though. I was always so disappointed. Naturally I will make up for it by giving DS plenty to spend on the overpriced crap. After the first few years, I'll prob just give him $15-20 to buy for DH and I. Maybe something for himself too. I will take him shopping to a real store for everyone else.

Great question. She’s 4 and I was thinking $20. I should ask her if she plans to buy for anyone but herself. I now have to explain what the boutique is too.

Re: Holiday boutique at school ... how much?

Thanks everyone! I'm sending it in today and I set the budget at $10 per person (3 people). Based on what everyone said she's in the afternoon group too so I wanted her to have options still. But I wrote on it only one item per person so hopefully she doesn't spend up to $30.

My DD is buying for 7 people (including herself) so we budgeted $5 per person. She took the money out of her piggy bank, but I told her she doesn’t have to spend the full $5 on each person.

I send in $4-5 per person she is buying for. If she spends less, she brings home change. I do not let her buy for herself.

Re: Holiday boutique at school ... how much?

I am planning on sending my kids with $20 buying for at least 3 ppl (mom, dad, sibling).

I make a point of saying no gifts for themselves. I want them to understand it's about gifting for others and not themselves.

I send in $25 because he has us and his 3 siblings. I'm sure we all got some .50 gifts because he came home with 3 fidget spinners and a stuffed dog dressed as Santa on a leash for himself. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I give the kids 20 each. They generally pick for 5 plus themselves and it’s plenty. I don’t know why but I find it so amusing to see what they come home with.
