Hit my head hard yesterday-Edited with update
I should preface this by saying I am extremely clumsy. I am usually bumping into something, falling, etc. My dad has said I've been going through that 'clumsy age' my entire life. I'm no stranger to bumps and bruises. I've hit my head more times than I care to mention.
So last night I slammed my head pretty hard into my bedroom door (don't ask-I was rushing as usual and the door had started to close and I bent down to pick up my shoes and thought the door was closed and oompletely slammed into it). Anyhow, I was so disoriented I had to lay down for a couple minutes. After that, I felt fine. DH came home shortly after and I told him what happened, just in case.
We went on about our night and all was fine. This morning I woke up and my head was pretty sore where I hit it. It hurts to even touch it. DH looked but didn't see anything, we went about our day today (busy day with 3 kids). I just took a shower and I guess since I washed my hair and touched my head it is killing me again.
I am starting to worry, but trying not to think about it. I mean if I wanted to get it checked, I'm assuming I'd have to go to the hospital and really don't feel like doing that and I feel like I'm overreacting. I'm thinking in a day or 2 hopefully it won't be sore. Anyone else have something like this happen to them?
Update: So I just got home from ER. Evaluated me by checking my eyes, pushing on my hands, feet, stuff like that. Dr. didn't recommend a CT scan because no vomiting or dizziness or memory loss. He said the exposure to radiation wasn't worth it. Take Tylenol/Advil for pain. He saw very small bump on head. Of course, any changes to go back but he suspected in a few days I would feel better. He was like wow, you have 3 little kids at home. Do you want me to admit you so you can rest? So in the end I didn't need to go, but at least I know I got it checked.

Hit my head hard yesterday
Obviously I am not a doctor or anything...
But if it were me, I wouldn't worry, and probably wouldn't go to the doctor, unless I became nauseous or dizzy or had some type of concerning neurological symptom.
That stinks though. Feel better!!!

Thanks. Yes I was thinking the same thing. No no dizziness or nausea or anything like that. I even looked at my pupils to make sure they weren't dilated or anything and they're fine, I'm sure it's just sore bc that's where it was hit, like if it was my elbow, it would be sore there.

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
I would go check it out to be on the safe side. I once slipped in my house and hit the side of my head on the floor. I thought I was fine, but my mom is a nurse and brought me right to the ER. Turns out I had a concussion. I hope you are ok!

I agree with this. But at any point if your gut is saying u should get it checked better be safe than sorry.

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
As the parent of a child who has had a concussion (and I suspect one more that may have been undiagnosed), I don't think this warrants a visit. It could be sore for days. As long as you are not having neurological symptoms or memory issues, I think it's probably just sore. Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
It can't hurt to get it checked out.
A little story form my neighbors next door. He had hit his head getting up on the boat when they were on vacation. No issues, they didn't give it a second thought. A few weeks later when they're back home, he started slurring his speech and stumbling. So his wife took him to the hospital. Thank goodness that she did, because they had to operate that day. He had bleeding and they needed to let the blood out so emergency surgery was performed. Sorry for the glum story but after that I would never take a good hit on the head for granted.

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
Ok. I am considering going to get this checked out, but ugh, the thought of sitting in an ER for hours. Realistically, what am I looking at here? Is my whole day shot? Would have to go today because I work M-F. I haven't even told DH I am thinking about going. He is upstairs sleeping (his turn, we alternate) while my 3 kids have been up since 5:30.

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
Something similar happened to a friend of mine. She had a concussion and a bruise on the top of her head. Don't mess around with your head. Get it checked out

Re: Hit my head hard yesterday
For just pain on the spot you hit - no, I would not go to the ER. If you were feeling dizzy, sluggish, nauseous - then yes.
If it was a regular hollow door, and not a solid one, I wouldn't be too concerned.

This! I wouldn't expose yourself to unnecessary radiation of an xray, CT scan, etc.
