Hiring a Nanny/Babysitter -WWYD??

I recently met a young girl who is an assistant at one of my children's classes. I got a very good vibe and the more I speak with her, the more I think she would be a great fit for our family. I've seen her interacting with the children and she does a wonderful job with them. My kids all seem to love her. Fortunately, she does babysit and would love to come work for us too. In the past, I always had interviews and checked professional references, etc (when I used sitter-city and care.com). However, being that I found her at her place of work and have seen her in action, I'm not sure how far to take the "hiring process". Kwim? Wwyd?

Hiring a Nanny/Babysitter -WWYD??

Our friends had their dd in daycare. When their second child arrived they left daycare and hired a girl from the daycare to be their nanny. She obviously already had her background check and references so they didn't do anything else. Plus they knew their dd already loved her.

This girl works in DD's dancing school so I doubt she's had a background check. I was thinking if having her come by to meet my husband so that we can learn a little more about her and then take it from there.
