Highlights

I know there have been a zillion posts about it, but just wanted to ask again maybe from some newly preggo ladies.

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and I'm going for a hair appt today for highlights. Do I keep my appt or reschedule? Are highlights safe at this point?

Re: Highlights

I have gotten highlights throughout my pregnancy. Highlights are fine as they do not touch your scalp. Let your hairdresser know you are pregnant as they might want to change something.

Re: Highlights

Just spoke to my Dr and they said no to the highlights unless its veggie dye. Don't know how that would work considering my roots are now dark brown and the rest of my hair is super light blonde.

Waiting for my hair girl to call me back and let me know what to do!

Thanks for the responses.

My Doctor said after the first trimester hair dye was safe, so I've been gettting my roots done ever since.

Re: Highlights

I was told highlight don't touch the scalp (otherwise it would burn your head). I would listen to my doc though.

Re: Highlights

I highlighted my hair throughout my whole pregnancy and my little girl was born 6/13 perfectly healthy. They dont touch the scalp so they are fine - full head of dye is what they say to stay away from. I got my first highlights about 10 weeks and had them done 2 other times after that.

I agree qith most of the above re: wait til after 10 weeks. Keep in mind...hair dye doesnt always work the same when you are preggo. They tried to match my color (blonde) and it was coming up dark blonde regardless of how long).
