Highlighted Hair
Do you have to use a shampoo and conditioner for colored hair? Are they actually better than other kinds?

Re: Highlighted Hair
you want a quality shampoo for color treated hair...but just bc it says color treated doesnt mean its the best...ie vo5 from cvs may say color safe but is still very drying. xo

I usually use Dove or Suave and just wondered if I needed to actually use it.

Re: Highlighted Hair
suave is a no no in my book....dove is a little better but eh in my experiences.
you need super moisturizing ones...i suggest salon quality of course, ask your hairdresser which ones she recs
there are ok ones from drugstores but everyones hair reacts differently so i hate to suggest . i like neutrogena or organix if i hve to get something from drugstore :)

She has a small salon and doesn't sell anything. I have always heard that the more expensive shampoos are not always better. I will ask her this time though what she recommends again.

Re: Highlighted Hair
I color my hair every 4-6 weeks (and have done so for the past 10 years), I go to a salon and they use Matrix products.
At home, I will use ONLY shanpoo and conditioner for color treated hair, usually NEXXUS products or Matrix or Biolage. I once used regular Pantene and my hair was so dry, and anything by Garnier Fructis or L'Oreal is poison on my hair! I also do a deep condtioniing treatment on it at least once a month, usually those Hair Conditioner packets sold at Sally Beauty Supply-type stores (the one in the brown packet, you leave the conditioner on for 10-15 minutes then wash it off with shampoo/conditioner).

Re: Highlighted Hair
I've been using this conditioner with my John Frieda Radiant Red shampoo. I don't know how much it helps, but it smells fantastic!

Re: Highlighted Hair
I just got my hair highlighted this past weekend and I asked the stylist what brand shampoo she reccommends and she said she uses Garnier Fructis on her own color treated hair. She whispered it to me lol. My salon uses the high end products though.

Re: Highlighted Hair
I highlight my hair as well and alternate between John Frieda and Neutrogena Triple moisture Cream shampoos & conditioners - not drying at all.
