Hi Ladies!!! Meet my Little Man
Just popping on to say hello. I just got home last night. Thanks so much to De for updating everyone.
My was it a crazy past few days. I posted on Friday that I had an OB apt and was hoping for progress. Well I had very little then I went from 1.5 to 2cm but my blood pressure spiked while I was there and my swelling was getting worst. Then  wasn't moving at all.
So I was sent to L&D friday evening. I was told I was going to be induced. I was there for about 4 hours, had 2 20min sonos and no matter what they did they couldn't get to move around. So we thought for sure Friday was the day. Well my OB said that since everything else looked great, BP went down, Baby heartrate was good, that they were going to send me home to wait for labor naturally. I was 40w2d.
I came home that night and cried. I was so tired and so frustrated. I felt like I was going to be preggo forever.
6am Saturday morning I felt my first REAL contraction. (Girls if you are wondering if you will know the difference between BH and a real contraction, believe me you will.) It was nothing like what I thought I remembered with my first. By the time I got to Stonybrook my contractions went from 6min apart to 4.
I will admit right now that I was a wretched mess. I was howling and moaning. The contractions were the worst for me.
I got my epi about an hour after I arrived at the hospital. (God Bless the person who invented that amazing medicine ) By then i was 3cm.
My water broke at 7cm. Took about an hour to 8 and another to get to 9. I was stalled at 9.5 for a while. did not want to descend and my OB did not want to use forceps or a vac. So I was an hour away from a Csection at that point.
My nurse kept rooting for me to keep going with a vaginal. It was her idea to give me Pitocin to see if stronger contractions could get him to drop. I was on the Pitcion, slow drip, for about 15 mins when I felt him drop down and suddenly had the urge to push. They checked and he was right there.
I pushed for 15min and painfully my DS was here. Everyone said they thought I wouldn't be able to push him out and were so impressed by how quick I did it. I was so glad it was over.
Unfortunately it wasn't all great. During labor my DS pooped and was surrounded by a lot of meconium. When he was born he was COVERED in it. It stained his nails and even my placenta.
He also had the umblical cord wrapped around his neck 2x. However my OB said I had an unusually long cord and it kept it from getting tight around his neck.
The worst part was that after my water broke at 7cm I caught an infection and minutes before I was ready to push I spiked a fever. They had to have the NICU team come in and work on him because of the possibility of DS also having the infection. It was hard to watch them working on him. He didn't cry at first. It was the worst few minutes ever. Then we hear them say, hes not moving his arm.   Turns out my DS was so snug in there his arm got numb and he couldn't move it. They took xrays and it wasn't fractured. He is moving it now (Thank God).
He had to stay in the NICU while I went home. Worst feeling in the world. But he is coming home today (God willing). We are just waiting for him to be circumsized He is eating and gaining like a champ.
Breastfeeding isn't as hard as I was afraid it was going to be. He latches on like a pro. It hurts some in my breast but hurts the most is the contractions BF brings on.
My recovery is going great. I did tear in 9 places. My Ob stitched me up great because one of my biggest tears (TMI) was right where I urinate. I was told it was going to burn when I go but so far it hasn't and I am doing well.
Walking is fine but I do get tired and winded quickly.
I am just so happy that that part of the journey is over and now DS is here.
