Hi All.. Need Help

I've been a member of this site since the beginning and I have children already and I am currently trying for another. I haven't been on this board in over 5 years and I can't follow all this chat lingo, lol..

I was always on a regular cycle every 28 days, but after having my kids my cycle is seriously messed up. I jump from 24 days to 27, etc. but what really confuses me is my flow is not regular either. My OBGYN always said any sign of spotting is counted as day 1, but my body spots very little that it seems like nothing then vanishes and then aunt flo comes. So it seems like its almost 2 weeks of flo. I can't calculate my ovulation. I've tried to Chat Icon throughout the month but that hasn't worked this past 2 months of trying.

There is an ovulation calculator I've heard about but where do you buy it and how much does it cost?

Does anyone else have a screwed up cycle like mine?

Thanks

My doctor says spotting is not counted as Day 1. Day 1 would be the first day of full flow. You can use ovulation predictor kits. Clear blue easy has digital ones that gives you a smiley face to indicate you are about to ovulate. I order the 20 pack on amazon. There are also cheaper ones you can buy but with these you have to read the lines (both lines need to be the same darkness or the test line needs to be darker). Both will tell you when you are most fertile.

I hope that info helps. Good Luck!

hmm, ur Dr. doesn't think spotting starts day 1? Chat Icon
I've tried calculating to day 10-14 for both when I started spotting and also when the actual flow comes to start Chat Icon but hasn't worked Chat Icon
I'll check out the test as you mentioned. txs.

Oh, also I bought an EPT pack of prego tests and it came with 1 fertility test. When should I use that?

Re: Hi All.. Need Help

Usually you use the ovulation tests a few times a cycle. I have the clear blue easy and according to the package it says to start testing on CD14 because my cycle is typically 31 days.

Don't use the fertility test. They are not really reliable to tell you if you actually have fertility issues so I would just throw it away.

If you are spotting for a day or two and then do not get AF for days or a week later I would discuss that with your Dr. That could be more mid cycle spotting that can have a variety of causes.

Re: Hi All.. Need Help

24-27 days is actually pretty regular so i wuod not worry about that

i would count full flow as cd 1 and if u r spotting a week before af and up till full flow i would def have a blood test drawn for mid cycle spotting which could be a sign of low progesterone

as for ovulation..get a opk and start testing around cd 10 every day..start from when af ends so then u should not have spotting issues

good luckChat Icon

What exactly is this mid cycle spotting? will low progesterone affect me getting pregnant?

Your cycle sounds exactly like mine! I spot for like a while week and then I have AF for a whole week. It's like two weeks of flow that changes by a couple of days each cycle. It predictable in this way but totally drives me crazy. I tried temping because it can give me an overall picture of my cycle. Have you tried this yet?

My cycle has been like this for long time.. I should keep better track of it to be exact but I'm going to guess since having my last child 2 years ago.
I've never had any fertility issues with either of my pregnancies.
Not on any bcp, never used any opks, still trying to learn about those on here, just winging it.

Re: Hi All.. Need Help

k..Chat Icon

i would def make a appt with your ob just to discuss the spotting if this si been going on for a while..i just googled to make sure and it said any spotting for more than 5 days is considered"abnormal" meaning to spot a couple days and then get af is ok but if spotting for a full week then getting af something could be up..

great that u had no fertiltiy issues..they suuck lol!

if u want to try something else other than the winging it approach i would suggest buying a ovulation predictior kit(opk)...the non digital are cheaper but can be tricky to read so the digital ones where you get a Chat Icon face when you are about to surge..cant mistake it

i would suggest testing starting around cd 10 and just go from there..once you get theChat Icon ..that means you should surge in 12-36 hours so you are metering the fertile time and shouldChat Icon as much as you can for the next few days

if you do not get a Chat Icon in the first few days do not worry bc u can ovulate later in your cycle..you just want to make sure that the time you ovulate to the time your next period starts is at least 10 days

hope this helps..please fm em anytime if u need!

best of luck to youChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Hi All.. Need Help

My Dr has always told me to count CD 1 as the first heavy flow of your period! Not all cycles are 28 days. Mine vary from 30-32 days. sometimes less then that. You can use helpful tools @ fertilityfriend.com. If you have a smartphone there is a Free app called Lady timer. You can record your ovulation there and enter info in and it gives you when your body should be ovulating. It's a good way to keep track!
