Hi, a little long

This is my first post on this board and I am a reg poster but in hiding sorryChat Icon

Ok so, I am not sure where to start. I had dc 1 over 2 years ago and have not used any form of bc since having dc. We were not concerned about getting pregnant as we want more kids and not getting any younger. At first we used pnp method just b/c but didn't care if the dc's were close together. As of lately we are not pnp, at least a year. I did start tracking my cycles more closely b/c now we want #2. DC#1 was conceived right away. First month, Went off the pill and got pregnant right away.

My cycles have been VERY short, only 23 days btw each period. So weird, I was always 28 days.

I had my last period on Sunday- yesterday and my app is showing that I would be fertile next week. Is this right? When are you normally fertile/ovulate? It just seems so soon.

Does it seem weird to you that I easily got pregnant with #1 and after 2 years of no bc and I am not yet?

Re: Hi, a little long

if your cycles are too short there could be something wrong. If you haven't seen a doctor yet to discuss this, i would do so ASAP.
Lots of people have their first child with no problems and became pregnant easily. Then when they try for their second child, the may realize that it isn't as easy as it was with the first. Infertility can affect anyone and IMO, if i was you, i would make an appointment with at least your OBGYN ASAP.

Re: Hi, a little long

the problem with those apps is that they assume your luteal phase is 14 days...so that is why it is showing next week as your fertile time. i think a luteal phase can be as short as 10/11 days though which would push your o back a few days later.
i personally dont trust the apps...they had my fertile time wayyyy off and the only way i figured it out was by using opks and temping
bc your cycles are short though, you could o as early as tuesuday (if you have a 14 day LP) or as late as fri/sat if you have a 10/11 day LP.
maybe try temping/opks to help figure out your cycle.
also, cant hurt to cll your Dr to see what they suggest

Re: Hi, a little long

I can relate to you with #2 being harder! We got pregnant very quick with our first baby (on our honeymoon!) #2 hasn't been as easy; I have been off bcp for a year now, and nothing yet Chat Icon
Have you used anything else to help you ttc? We have been doing it the good old fashioned way, but I am starting to consider OPKs.
good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Hi, a little long

Did your period end or start on Sunday?

Luteal phases can be anywhere from 10-16 days.

I am no expert but based on what you said if I were in your situation I would BD every other night starting tonight 4/20 and ending 4/29. Something like BD 4/20, 4/22, 4/24, 4/26, 4/28 and 4/30.

If you're period started on Sunday 4/15 and you have a 23 day cycle then if you have a 16 Luteal Phase you would ovulate on 4/21 and if you have a 10 day Luteal phase you would ovulate on 4/27. I would make sure that I covered all those dates and even the day before/after each.

Good luck!

Just want to add that a normal luteal phase is 10-16 days, but they can be shorter (or longer). If your cycle is only 23 days there's a chance your luteal phase is shorter than 10 days. In that case, your embryo might not have enough time to implant. It's easy for the drs to lengthen this time, though. It's worth a convo with your dr.

Thanks. My period started on Sunday 4/15 and ended yesterday Thursday. I will start tonight and see how we this week. DH goes away on Friday (next) for a week So I will cover my bases this month.

I am so bad. I have to go to the dr. We moved and now I need to find a new one and have been lazy.

To answer some other questions, we were just going with the flow. We didn't care when it happened but now that we are serious about it I am Chat Icon Just b/c it's been 2 years with no bc, and now that I am calculating my periods it seems odd. From Dec-April so far it's been exactly 23 days between periods.

How do you calculate LP?

Thanks so much girls it,s so helpful

your LP is the number of days after ovulation until your period...so you would need to pinpoint your ovulation date which can be done by temping/opks

good luck

I don't think you can really calculate LP. Some ladies use the OPK. I have never used so I have no experience. If you use the OPK you will be able to determine when you ovulate. From the day you ovulate until you get your period is how long your LP is.

I estimate my LP is be 14-16 days. I base my ovulation off of my CM and ovulation symptoms. When I no longer have CM I know that I ovulated so I start counting either from that day or the day before as my LP. I could be wrong but I have 2 DC so something was right Chat Icon

If you use an OPK you can estimate your LP. A dr can more accurately help you figure it out through blood work.
