Heterochromia - Anyone else??
My son has "heterochromia" - basically, his eyes are two different colors. One is blue and one is green. Daddy and I always tease he couldn't choose to have my eyes OR his eyes so he chose one of each
Anyway, since he was three months old we knew this and mentioned it to the pediatrician a bunch of times. Randomly, at his last appointment we made reference to it casually and all of a sudden the ped was like "I want him to see a pediatric Ophthalmologist immediately". I said, are you concerned? He said, not overly but he must have it checked and the sooner - the better, a lot of people with that can have vision problems. I was like
I mean, he's now 14 months old -- where have you been this entire year?! I've mentioned it to you before. You have examined him. So, that was kind of annoying.
Anyway, does anyone's child have this?
Trying not to worry too much. Made an appointment with a PO that came very highly recommended.
Here's what it looks like - I tried to get two pics that would show it a little...

he's so cute! I know 2 people that have this and they both do not have vision problems Makes sense to get him checked out just to be safe, but I would not be too concerned

My eyes are different colors. Less dramatic than your kid... one is greener & one is more brown. It shows up in pictures & if I tear or cry...
I have no trouble other than baseline glasses (contacts) since I was a teen.
BTW: Your son's eyes are gorgeous!

Heterochromia - Anyone else??
I know a boy with one straight up blue eye and one brown. Also a girl I went to high school with had blue eyes but one was like 50% brown. My dad had a dog with two different eyes. I've never heard anything negative about it but would go to a dr just to check it out.

No experience but from the pictures, and maybe it's my monitor, I can barely even tell I feel like one of his eyes is blue an the other is blue with more brown in it. If you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have even noticed. By the way.... he is a real cutie!!!

It is def harder to see in pics and on the computer.
I think the second pic shows it better.
Definitely no brown - no one on either side, his dad or my side has brown eyes anywhere. But the one is green (like daddy) and the one is blue (like me)...
If you are looking AT Julian the left is blue, the right is green. Obviously it is HIS left eye that's blue :)
Thank you!

My niece has this! No vision problems at all. She was just voted "nicest eyes" for her senior class superlatives.

Re: Heterochromia - Anyone else??
My cousin's DD who is now 10 months has this. Her one eye is 50% blue and 50% brownish green and the other eye is just blue. The doctor said to keep an eye on it, but isn't really concerned. It's certainly unique!

dd2 is like this. Well they have changed a lot and not really noticably unless you stare at her eyes. Noone ever said anything to me. We have brown eyes and her's I guess are green. Can't even name the color. One eye is actually half brownish half greenish. But her don't match completely. I guess better to have it checked but I wouldn't worry.

Re: Heterochromia - Anyone else??
My son has this to a lesser extent. His eyes are mostly brown, but one quarter of one eye is blue. He is seven and it is not an issue. He has his vision checked annually.

Yep I was looking for a place then my buddy reminded me we ALWAYS ended up there after work anyway! LOL Ironically I got there late than her and we ended up sitting at a table next to the SAPD patch haha Actually everyone at our table found a hometown patch near that table. San Fran, San Antonio, Raleigh and Jersey

Heterochromia - Anyone else??
I should add.. I do have vision issues. My one doc said my eye was 'twisting' and the nerves were twisting too but it was never really bad. But when growing up they kept a close eye on it (haha no pun intended). I have worse vision in the blue but they say its NOT related to the color at all. Since the color has very little to do with vision at all.
That said, what's bothersome for me is light. Since my blue eye reflects light better (the retina in my case is also white instead of fleshy pink) it contracts quickly. Unfortunately that means both contract so I'm blinded easily by light and should wear sunglasses (I refuse) but at night time it opens up as wide as it can (or dark areas) so my night vision is pretty quick (not as long to adjust) and I feel comfortable in low light. I squint my right/blue eye a lot because of light. And when they do that eye test with the light up close my right eye tears up quickly and pours out tears!

My dog Limbus (pun intended) also had heterochromia that is opposite of yours Xelindrya. Which I think is the coolest thing ever. He was seen by an ophthalmologist as well and never had vision issues

I know a few people with this. None of them have any "anormal" vision issues. One wears glasses for reading, another for distance.
PS- I think this is sooo cool and he's very handsome!

Heterochromia - Anyone else??
Want my advice? .. its a GREAT learning tool that all people are different. AJ once said something about a child and I said, I see nothing wrong with them. But mama he's strange looking. So are my eyes is there something 'wrong' with me? she gave me an odd look and just thought about it. Since then she's been much more open minded.
OH and the dog thing... FAVORITE line ever.. no intro no nothing just
HEY, I know a dog who looks just like you!
hahahahaha the moment they realized what that sounded like still gives me giggles. I know what they meant but it was the way it was worded that was hilarious!

Re: Heterochromia - Anyone else??
Haha I meant it in the most endearing way ever, but I can see how you could miss read that. My dog was (he passed away recently) my life and I think heterochromia rocks (in people and in pups hehe) I think it would be so neat to have different colored eyes! One more shameless picture because I miss him
