Hershey park - 2 days this August

looking to drive down real early on a Thurs..in Aug...spend that day at the park...then all day Friday and then check out on a sat..

is this enough/too much? are those the better days to go?

Never been..any tips/recs?

By then my kids will be 5 yr old, 3.5 yr old and 8 mo old. We will also be going with my parents.

Looking at the Hershey Lodge...pros/cons

Re: Hershey park - 2 days this August

We just went a couple of weeks ago. We did a preview night (they let you in at 7 the evening before, and then all the next day on 1 ticket) and stayed a couple of hours and then went the next day from 11:30am until closing. It was me and DH, along with 2 other adult family members and my DD who's 2.

I really liked the layout of the park b/c kiddie rides are mixed in with the regular coasters and other rides so while a couple of people were on adult rides, there was kiddie stuff to do with my DD so she wasn't bored or left out. We got through the whole park pretty much. We did mostly coasters, so really didn't go on the other spinning type rides and we also didn't go to the water park.

If you're planning on doing everything, I think 2 days will be fine. Maybe do the general rides one day and the water area (looked pretty big) the next. We went on a Monday and the lines weren't too bad at all. It might be a bit busier now that school is out, but as long as you're going on a weekday, it shouldn't be as crazy as the weekend, I'd think.

I'm sure you'll have a great time though. Enjoy. Chat Icon

P.S. We didn't stay at Hershey Lodge but Staybridge Suites in Harrisburg is very nice. We stayed in a 2-bdrm suite and had plenty of room...and it's only about 15-20 min from the park.

Re: Hershey park - 2 days this August

Just was there last weekend. two Days is perfect. We stayed in harrisburg west of hershey as we found a cheaper hotel. Remember you wont really be at the hotel. Unless you plan on going back for the little ones nap than it was fine being 20 min away. Hershey Lodge is nice but crowded and lots of kids. Nice pool but then again you may never get into it. your kids will LOVE hershey. DD is 4 and it was perfect.

Re: Hershey park - 2 days this August

We went last year, we left Sat early morning and came back Sun night, I don't think it was enough time, we loved it but we were exhausted by the time it was all done .
So we decided next time we go we'll leave Fri night, go to a hotel, rest, then wake up early go to the park, come back stay overnight and leave Sunday afternoon or evening.
We picked a hotel exactly 8 min drive from the park, it was SO much cheaper than hotels by the park.
Also don't forget if you go to Dunkin donuts they have coupons to save on tickets and if you have AAA you save some money with that too (we even saved at the hotel)
Also I should mention that on the way back we went to crayola factory, which is on the way to NY. It was so much fun! Just an idea Chat Icon

Re: Hershey park - 2 days this August

Thank you so much..
My father just called to say he booked the Hershey lodge..so I guess it is official! Lol! I thought we were still in the "talking about it" stage..haha..

I think our plan is to leave NY around 7ish..to get there 10-11 ish...spend the day in the park and then all day Friday as well and if we decide to make that a shorter day - hang by the-hotel/ pool...prob one day wet rides and one day dry rides...

Does that make the most sense?!?!

Re: Hershey park - 2 days this August

Dunkin Donuts coupons are $8 off each ticket in Aug and Sept. Each month it's a different amt off.

Hershey Lodge is awesome and the only place I stay. Yes, they have refrigerators in rooms.

That is a nice amt of time. I personally like to stay 3-4 nights but it's not needed. 2 nights is fine

Not sure where you are leaving from but you will need to leave earlier or you will be in the middle of rush hour. I left for sesame place last wednesday and I left exit 64 LIE at about 550 AM and still hit some traffic. Remember its a week day. Hershey lodge gave out hershey bars when we went a few years ago. They also have a nice restaurant and gift shops. Never made it to the pool. You will have a blast.

Or leave later. We usually leave around 930/10am for this reason.

We left later and considered the first day a travel day. Hit hershey gardens and chocolate world that day to get the done. You can go in the park for free the night before. 7 pm.

Also, if you go online to the Giant foodstore website you can sign up for their store card and get a discount on Hershey tickets. That's what we did and I think it was about $15 off each ticket plus free parking. Def was worth it. Chat Icon

The park can take 2 days if you move at a nice pace. So between pool and eating, that's all your time right there.

THey have activities at Hershey Lodge, a small game room, kiddie pool, and playground. They also have a mini goif course and a quiet pool.
