Here is what I don't get

I def get EWCM every month a few days before O. What I don't understand is if it is so necessary for EWCM, then why do we only get it a few days before and not on the actual day of O???

I find that the more DH and I BD, the more dry I end up down there (not to mention sore ).

For example, Thursday and Friday I had LOTS of EWCM, and only a high reading on my CBEFM. We BD first thing this morning (still a high fert reading) and I have had no CM today. I'm 99% positive that tomorrow will be my peak fert reading and possibly Monday too.

Do any of you girls get EWCM before and during O or is it always just before

The spermies need to get into there well up to 24-36 hours prior to O - they have a long way to swim to meet the egg in the fallopian tube - so your body does this on purpose, if it waited to have EWCM on the day of O, it would be too late
this is why temping is good to confirm ovulation, but not very useful in telling you when to get busy - you need to BD 2-3 days prior to O. OPKs are useful for this, because they detect your LH surge, which also occurs 2-3 days before ovulation (the LH is the hormone that tells your ovary to release the egg aka ovulation).

EWCM is present before ovulation because it takes the sperm a bit to actually get where it needs to be. And since an egg is only viable for about 12-24hours it's best if the sperm is there just before ovulation or at the same time as ovulation. The EWCM mimics semen and has the nutrients required to keep the sperm alive. Does the way I wrote that make sense? lol Sometimes it sounds bette rin my own head!

Now I'm all worried we missed the boat. I should O tomorrow or Monday and we BD first thing this morning so far. We meant to last night (Friday) but fell asleep. Planned on BDing tonight tomorrow and Monday as well. I hope DH's little guys are up for the race
