Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
The last couple of days, I have been having a really hard time falling asleep at a decent hour.
I didn't fall asleep until 3 am last night. I am exhausted today and the last couple of days.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
I find that sometimes camomile tea helps. When I've been having a lot of problems putting a little lavendar oil on my pillow on under my nose helps. The scent of lavendar naturally relaxes you.
And when things were REALLY bad for a while I'd take a Unisom, but when I woke up 8 hours later I was still really groggy for a few hours, so I only did that on weekends so that I wouldn't have to drive anywhere.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
Is there something you keep thinking about? Sometimes if I'm stressed about one thing I can't sleep well until I get the situation resolved.
Also, I don't let myself fall asleep until it is really bed time. I used to take little naps after dinner and I'd never be able to fall asleep before 1 or 2AM.

I take Melatonin (sp?) Its an over the counter natural sleep aid. Its helps you to fall asleep but it wont keep you asleep. I take it about 2 hours b/4 I want to go to sleep. I don't wake up feeling all groggy like I did with teynol (SP i am not doing good with sp today) PM. Its really cheap I think about $4 for 60 pills. You can get it at any Vitamin store.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
I have had this for about a week. I fall asleep easily, then a 2:30a.m. I am up, I didn't fall back asleep at all this morning...I don't get it. I then get on the LIRR and sleep like a baby and today, again, I am so tired!

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
I have this problem ALL the time I have used several sleep aides and like someone said above, they may put you to sleep but they do not keep you alseep. PLUS they are highly addictive IMO.
What i try doing is: reading, exercising, taking a hot bath.
If it is something that is on your mind then you have to try thinking of other things when you are trying to falling alseep. And as silly as it sounds i count. THis will work if you wake up in the middle of the night. When i get board with counting i think about the letters of the alphabet and boy and giril names, states, veggies/fruits...etc that correspond to the letter. Anything boring that keeps your mind off of something you are stressed about. PLUS muscle relaxation works as well.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
The only time I've had insomnia is:
1. umemployed - used Melatonin and it helped.
2. My first trimester when I was pregnant.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
If I cannot fall asleep I write down what is on my mind so I will not forget it and also so I can get it out of my system. I keep a pad of paper and pen next to the bed and do this if i wake up in the middle of the night and just write what ever is on my mind down. it usually helps but when that does not work, DH and I um have fun and by then I have forgotten what was on my mind and I can go sleep. DH never minds getting woken up for nookie.

My schedule is so varied that my body can't get into a sleep pattern. I have been taking Melatonin for a couple of years (only when I need it) and it really does help me get to sleep.

I'm drinking chamomile tea every night and boy do I sleep GREAT!!! It's also good for digestion.
Also, you could try Tylenol PM

I've been having a similar problem. I fall asleep fine, but then wake up almost every hour or two during the night and have trouble falling back to sleep.

Me either.
I find that I sleep best after a good workout, which usually consists of a yoga class and cardio. Maybe some yoga breathing and stretches will help.

Re: Help with Insomonia - Any suggestions??
I know exactly what you're going through I've tried a few OTC sleep aids, and they've worked okay. I'm going to ask my doctor soon too. This has been going on for months...
