Help with cost for home day care
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the boards, my SIL said everyone here is great and this would be the place to post my question.
I'm a SAHM to three. I have a 7, 4 and 2 year old. I am also a licensed elementary teacher (currently on leave which will probably turn permanent I have to decide when my youngest is 4).
Anyway, here is my question. I have agreed to watch a family members child. She will be almost a year old then. It will be full time 5 days from about 8:30 to 3:30 / 4:00. I'm not sure what to charge???? I know when I had my oldest in daycare and was still working I paid 275 a week. I don't want to charge that much, but not sure what the going rate is?
For those of you watching children in your home or have children in home care, any advice? Thanks so much.

In home childcare ususally runs $65/day for a full day. That is $325 a week. Being it is family, I would do it for less. How much less is up to you.

We looked into a few home daycare places. One that I really liked was $40/day and they didn't charge if she didn't come one day. HTH!

When I was looking into home daycare, the rates were typically $40 to $50 per day.

DD went to a home daycare for a period and she charged $7 per hour for an infant.

My place is very reasonable. They only charge $185 a week for 7:30 to 4pm. But we do pay her about 4 weeks when we don't send our DD.

I have used sitters that watch my child in there home and they usually charge a flat rate of $40-$50 a day or $5-$6 an hour. As a parent it is great if the sitter does not make you pay for days you do not need. Although I totally understand why it would be required and do pay my current sitter for unused days.

The in home day care DS was just in charged $60/day PT and $240 a week full time. I would say that if it's a family member $200 but that's your call.

I have heard or $40-$50 per day for the hours you stated.

I think if you will be staying home caring for the child all day you can charge more than if you will also have your own children to care for or you may be taking this child to run your own errands.
