Help with Charting!! New to this

I am new to charting and I have noticed that on CD1 and CD2 my temp was at 97.9 then CD3 it dropped to 97.6 then CD4 went back to 97.9 and now today CD5 it went back down to 97.6. Can anyone please tell me if this is normal? And how will I know when I am ovulating? AF was only around until CD4. Help!!!

Re: Help with Charting!! New to this

Welcome ! I hope your stay is short and sweet :)

Your temps are very 'normal' :) They will fluxuate. If you enter them in a charting program, like www.fertilityfriend.com.... the program will actually detect your ovulation day.

Charting basically is a great tool to confirm "ovulation" and to determine how long your normal luteal phase is (time between ovulation and AF).

Using opks (ovulation predictor kits) that you can purchase at a drugstore (cvs etc)...will help 'predict' the ovulation.

Depending on how long your cycles are usually, you should start using opks about 18 less than your cycle. So in other words, if your cycle is 28 days, start testing on cd 10. If your cycle is 24 days, start testing on cd 6.

Re: Help with Charting!! New to this

Hello there, I am new to these boards but not new to charting. It is VERY common for your temps to fluctuate in weird ways when you have your period. They will probably stop once your period is done.

Good luck!
